Steven R. Bryan, 64, of Goddard, Kansas and formerly of Herington, Kansas, departed this life on February 4, 2016 at the Medicalodges of Goddard.  He was born on March 6, 1951 at Winfield, Kansas, the son of Marable and Virginia R. (Ferry) Bryan.

Steve retired from Steve's Grocery Store of Hope in 1991 due to failing health.  He had worked at Food 4 Less and Catlin's IGA in Herington as a stocker before opening his own store.  He enjoyed bowling, dancing, summer baseball, and was a Special Olympics coach.  His favorite team was KU.  He graduated from Moline High School in Moline, Kansas with the Class of 1969.  He supported and attended the alumni meetings for the all-school reunion which were held each year.

He married Lyneva Sherman on June 30, 1973 at Elk Falls, Kansas, and she survives at the home.  He is survived by two sons, Jeremy and his fiance, Carolina Gleason of Goddard, Kansas and Justin of Salina; a daughter, Jennifer Guffey and her husband, Ryan and their daughter, Kylee of Goddard, Kansas; and two sisters, Pam Bryan of Moline, Kansas and Peggy Weaver and her husband, Glennis of Sedan, Kansas.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 114 N. 8th Street, Herington, Kansas with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.  Calling time will be from 2:00 p.m. Monday until the time of services at the church and following the services until 4:30 p.m.  Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Elk Falls Cemetery in Elk Falls, Kansas. 

The family requests memorials to the SE Dickinson Magic, and they may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, 414 S. Broadway, Herington, Kansas 67449.
