I have read that it takes a 4 year college degree to put a person at the starting gate, the same as a HS diploma put us back in our days. The main problem I see with a college degree is way too many kids go off to college and mom & dad struggle financially to put them through college---then junior or juniorette works 2-3 years at the job they went to school for—then they get married and then spend their entire life riding on the coat tails of the hard work and success of their spouse. Sad and a waste of their parents money. I'm sure even you know of stories like that.

Sadly, I certainly do. In many cases the 4 year degree just means one is trainable.
