Marion E. Wheaton, age 68, formerly of Sedan, Kansas and the Chautauqua County, Kansas area, passed away December 24, 2015 at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born December 16, 1947 to Edward M. Long and Winimay (Gorrell) Long in Elk City, Kansas.

Marion attended school in Peru, Kansas and later received her GED.  She worked most of her life as a Certified Nurse's Aide annd Certified Med Aide.  Many of those years, she worked at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas as well as other nursing homes and hospitals, along with many other jobs as needed to provide for her family.  She enjoyed hand quilting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, puzzles, and playing games on her tablet.  She loved spending time with all her family.

Marion is survived by two daughters, Valita Steenbergen and husband, Jeff of Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Edie Zimmerman and husband, Bradley of Carrier, Oklahoma; two sons, Roy Wheaton and Preston Wheaton, both of Howard, Kansas; one sister, Lahoma Long of Norman, Oklahoma; five brothers, Marvin Long of Peru, Kansas, Tom Long of Independence, Kansas, Gene Long of Sedan, Kansas, Jim Long of Peru, Kansas, and Paul Long of Peru, Kansas; three grandchildren, Stephanie Ruth and husband, David, Jocelyn Zimmerman, and Jayton Zimmerman; two great-grandchildren, Jimmy Ruth and Brooklynne Ruth; as well as many other family members.  She was preceded in death by one grandchild, J.D. Steenbergen; two brothers, Melvin Long and Joe Long; one sister, Ida Long; and her parents.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Chautauqua, Kansas with Pastor Keith Fink of the Great Plains United Methodist Church of Kiowa, Kansas officiating.  Dickens Family Funeral Home of Sedan, Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
