Shirley Ann Wigton, age 74, of Sedan, Kansas, passed away September 17, 2015 at the Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan.  She was born on October 2, 1940 in Moline, Kansas to William Farnsworth and Goldie (Taylor) Farnsworth.

Shirley graduated from Moline High School in the Class of 1958.  After high school, she attended Pittsburg State University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics.  On January 25, 1968, she married Walter Wigton in Pittsburg, Kansas.  She taught in Diamond, Missouri for a few years before moving to Sedan, Kansas in 1971.  She taught middle school and high school art there for nearly 30 years before her retirement from USD #286 in 2002.

Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sedan.  She enjoyed art, cooking, music, sewing, and writing memoirs.  She also enjoyed going with Walt pumping leases.  She painted the Sedan Floral trucks many years ago.

Shirley is survived by three sons, Brian Wigton and wife, Marla of Roeland Park, Kansas, John Wigton of Moberly, Missouri, and Jay Wigton and wife, Lisa of Junction City, Kansas; a daughter of the heart, Ronda Wigton of Sedan, Kansas; and five grandchildren, Nate Wigton and wife, Karensa of Arkansas City, Kansas, Nick Wigton and Brandee Loftin of Kansas City, Missouri, Lexi Michaud of Wamego, Kansas, and Miranda and Jayden Wigton of Junction City, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter on August 2, 2014, and one sister, Sharon Johnson.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sedan, Kansas with Reverend Mark Davis officiating.  The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church Special Music Fund, and those remembrances may be left in care of the Dickens Family Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 which is in charge of arrangements.
