The following is from the annual newsletter published in September by the Grenola Historical Society:

"On November 15 [Saturday], the Elk County Historical Society will hold their annual meeting at 1:00 pm at the old Moline Grade School. Randy Durbin and Lane Smith will do a re-enactment of Grant and Lee at Appomattox to mark the end of the Civil War. Randy grew up in Moline and graduated from Grenola High School in 1972. This was after the Moline School burned and before consolidation with Howard. Everyone is invited to attend this reenactment. You need not be a member of the historical society."

Will post a reminder again before November 15.
"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU

Did any forum member attend the Lee and Grant Surrender at Appomattox presentation at the old grade school in Moline on November 15?

How did it turn out?
