Vera Evelyn Vestal, 93, of Longton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at home.  She was born October 29, 1921 in Fredonia, Kansas to Clyde Olen and Alice Eveline (Shaw) Newbill.

Vera was a big sister to two younger brothers, Ray and Jay.  They grew up in Yates Center, Kansas.  After moving to Longton, Kansas, Vera met Loren Vestal, and they were married on October 29, 1939.  Vera loved to cook and sew, and she made many quilts for the family.  She worked for ACC for 27 years while living on a farm south of Longton, Kansas.

Those left to treasure her memory include one son, Ronald Lee Vestal and wife, Barbara Jo of Longton, Kansas; three granddaughters, Alisa Joy and husband, Mark Ashenfelter of Longton, Kansas, Julie Ann and husband, Kyler Dowell of Longton, Kansas, and Polly Renee and husband, Adam Gross of Springhill, Kansas; and eight grandchildren, Madison, Callie, Abbie, and Sydney Ashenfelter, Isaish Vestal, Elijah and Mikah Dowell, and Benjamin Gross.  Vera was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren; and two brothers, Ray and Jay Newbill.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Longton Cemetery in Longton, Kansas with Chaplin Mike Graham of Harry Hynes Hospice officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with Webb & Rodrick Chapel, 306 W. Main, Independence, Kansas 67301 which is in charge of arrangements.
