Richard E. Noakes, 82, was born February 18, 1933 in Fall River, Kansas to Harold M. Noakes and Grace M. (Griffith) Noakes-Sharp.  He died peacefully at home in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by family on April 19, 2015.

Richard graduated from Howard High School in Howard, Kansas.  He married his high school sweetheart, Alice L. Dieckman in August of 1952.  After his service in the United States Army, Richard and Alice settled in Wichita, Kansas with their new baby daughter, Julie.  Soon after came their son, Brad.  Richard worked in finance and accounting for Beechcraft for 35 years.  Later, he worked for USD #259 before he retired in 1994.

Survivors are Alice, his wife of 63 years; his son and daughter-in-law, Brad A. and Winnie Noakes of Wichita, Kansas; and 5 grandchildren, Leah Marie, Teresa, Adam, Tobi, and Ian.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Joan Karsting; and his daughter, Julia A. Tomek.

A Celebration of Life service was held on April 23, 2015 at the Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church.  Burial was held at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Elk County, Kansas.  A memorial in Richard's name has been established with Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church, 3700 E. Mt. Vernon, Wichita, Kansas 67218.  Downing & Leahy Mortuary West are entrusted with the arrangements.  Online tributes may be left at www.dlwichita.com.
