PRETTY SUNDAY WEDDING


At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Sliker, Howard, Kansas, Sunday, April 19, 1931, in the presence of a small company of relatives and friends, Mr. Harry W. Smith or El Dorado, Kansas and Miss Marian Alice Sliker were joined in the holy bonds of wedlolck, Rev. W. C. Chappell, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church of Howard, officiating, the beautiful ring service being used in the impressive ceremony.

The bride was attired in a gown of rose beige crepe Elizabeth and lace, with pumps and hose to match. The groom wore a neat fitting conventional dark suit.

Immediately after the ceremony a two-course luncheon was served to the following guests--relativeds and friends: Mr. and Mrs. Harry W. Smith, groom and bride; Mrs. R. W. Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Higgs, Caney, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Robt Orr Jr., Bobby and Joan; Rev. and Mrs. W. C. Chappell; Mr. and Mrs. I.N. Johnson; Mrs. A. C. Dyer, Miss Gertrude Hamar, Howard; Mrs. Clark E. Miller and Coila Maxine, Dighton, Kansas, Mrs. and Mrs. Frank L. Sliker.

Immediately after the luncheon the happy pair left for a short wedding trip after which they will be at home at El Dorado, Kansas.

The bride is one of the most worthy and best beloved girls of Howard, the younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Sliker and was born near this city.  She is a graduate of Howard High school, has attended the State Teachers College, Emporia, and has taught successfully in the rural schools of this county.  She was at different times employed in the Smith & Goodwin stores and was a popular and efficient young saleswoman.  She is possessed of a beautiful soprano voice and has often been heard in the M. E. church choir and in public concerts.

The groom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Smith of Caney, Kansas, has attended high school and also has taken a course in a technical school.  He is a brother of Mrs. Robrt. Orr Jr., of this city, and is a young man of high character and is popular with all who knew him.  At present he is employed with the Jack Wallace Goodyear Tire Co., of El Dorado.

The entire community joins in wishing Harry and Marian a long, prosperous, happy and useful wedded life together.
