Horace Doyle Copeland, 98, of Howard, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015  in Eureka, Kansas.  Doyal was the oldest of seven children born to Horace and Edith Copeland on a farm near Severy, Kansas on July 1, 1916.

After attending college in Emporia, Kansas, Doyle and his father were in the farming and cattle business.  After several years of farming, he went into missionary work.  He dedicated the rest of his life in service to the people of his church, traveling to many states.  Doyle retired in 2012 and spent several happy years at Red Bud Rest Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma.  He recently returned to Howard, Kansas as his health deteriorated.

Doyle is survived by three sisters, Marcia Dean and Wilma Cooley of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Virginia Coble of Howard, Kansas;  twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ted Copeland and Bill Copeland; and a sister, Madge Hebb.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Interment will follow at Cresco Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Red Bud Rest Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Services are entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
