Michael Bruce Ostrander of Longton, Kansas died Monday, December 1, 2014 near Independence, Kansas at the age of 71.  Michael was born the son of Calvin Bruce Martin and Lois Margaret (Ralph) Martin on July 19, 1943 in Wellington, Kansas.  His father was killed in action during WWII.  Following his father's death, his mother married Tom Ostrander who adopted Michael and raised him as his own.

Michael served in the United States Navy and held many jobs in his lifetime, although he worked for many years in the aircraft industry.

Survivors include his daughter, Hanna Lyon (William) of Independence, Kansas; son, Brian Ostrander of Longton, Kansas; 5 grandchildren; father, Tom Ostrander, Sr. (Jo Ann) of Wellington, Kansas; half-brother, Tom Ostrander Jr. (Marcie) of Derby, Kansas; his nieces and nephews and extended family and his former wife, Anna Crocker of Longton, Kansas who faithfully cared for Michael.  He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Martin; mother, Lois Ostrander; and daughter, Tonya Graves.

Graveside services for Michael will be held at 10:00 a.m.on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, Kansas.  A memorial fund has been established in his loving memory to the St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis Tennessee 38105.  Contributions may be mailed to or left with the funeral home.
