Earl Edward Gordon, 73, of Winfield, Kansas, died November 1, 2014 comfortably at home with family after battling lung cancer.  He was born May 5, 1941 in Winfield, Kansas to Earl Everett and Bernice (Stewart) Gordon.

Earl attended Winfield schools and graduated from Winfield High School in 1959.  He married Ruth Jacobs in Severy, Kansas on June 4, 1961.  He was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company and Winfield State Hospital and Training Center.  After retirement, he provided child care for his grandchildren.  His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Jacobs) Gordon of Winfield, Kansas; daughter, Danielle Tipton and husband, Frank, Maria Moore and husband, Kenny, and Crystal Bachmeier, all of Winfield, Kansas; brothers, Jim Gordon of Belton, Missouri and Virgil Gordon of Pratt, Kansas; sister, Karen Gordon of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; and grandchildren, Levi Andes, Ryan Maldonado, Zachary Bachmeier, Elizabeth Bachmeier, Emily Corle, Ashley Corle, Gracie Moore, and Laine Moore.  In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Cluster.

An informal memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 10th Avenue & Loomis Street, Winfield, Kansas.  Casual dress is suggested.  Condolences may be e-mailed to funeraldirector@stmfh.com.  Arrangements are by Swisher-Taylor & Morris Funeral Home in Winfield, Kansas.

Ruth Gordon, wife of Earl Gordon, grew up in rural Severy, Kansas.  Her parents were Richard and Lucille Jacobs.
