June L. Johnson, 93, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Winfield, Kansas, passed away October 10, 2014 at Reflections Living in Wichita.  Born January 22, 1921 in Grenola, Kansas, she was the daughter of Edward and Ora Ann (Logsdon) Hawkins.

June was raised and received her eduction in Grenola, Kansas, graduating from Grenola High School.  She married Guy Eckert on October 15, 1937 in Howard, Kansas.  Mr. Eckert preceded her in death on January 3, 1943.  On July 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Keith Johnson in Murfreesboro, Arkansas.  The couple made their home in Winfield, Kansas where June was a homemaker helping to raise the family's children.  Mr. Johnson preceded her in death on January 3, 1992.  In October of 2012, June moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near family.  She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, and dancing.

Her family includes her daughter, Conneye Kraus and husband, Robert of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her daughter-in-law, Drinda Eckert of Henderson, Nevada; her grandchildren, Julie Sanwick of Round Lake, Minnesota, Chris Hemphill and husband, Darrell of Wichita, Kansas, Sherri Smith and husband, Terry of Wichita, Kansas, Mike Eckert and wife, Rhonda of Fontana, California; and Shanin Silva of Henderson, Nevada; her 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husbands, June was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Eckert; 3 brothers, Tom Hawkins, Jack Hawkins, and Howard Hawkins; and 2 sisters, Norma Hullett and Deon Newland.

Funeral services were held on October 16, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield, Kansas.  Interment followed at Highland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established in June's name for the Grenola Historical Society.  Contributions may be made through the Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue,  Winfield, Kansas 67156, which is in charge of arrangements.
