Martha Jean (Logsdon) Asbury, 89, of Winfield, Kansas, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on May 16, 2014.  Born January 17, 1925 in Grenola, Kansas, she was the daughter of Alvin and Alice (Dorsey) Logsdon.

Martha was raised and educated in rural Grenola, Kansas and Cambridge, Kansas schools and graduated from Cambridge High School.  She then attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas where she received her teaching certificate.

Martha taught school for a brief time at Grand Sweet until she married Stanley Asbury on December 24, 1945.  After some brief travels for employment reasons, the couple settled in Cambridge, Kansas.  She was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family and friends.  Martha and Stanley became Charter Members of the Cambridge Baptist Church in 1947, and she was very active in her church.  She also enjoyed sewing and cooking.  Stanley preceded her in death on April 20, 2002.

Her family includes her sister, Maxine Tredway of Winfield, Kansas; her daughters, Barbara Lahar and husband, Bill of Douglass, Kansas and Margaret Bing and husband, Curt of Erie, Colorado; her grandson, Bill Stephens of Wichita, Kansas; her great-granddaughters, Emma and Zoe Stephens of Collinsville, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Martha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Cambridge Baptist Church in Cambridge, Kansas.  Interment will follow at Cambridge Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established in Martha's name for Cumbernauld Village, RiverCross Hospice, and for the Cambridge Baptist Church.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, KS 67156.
