Eva Mae Malone, age 91, a resident of Moline, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She was born on February 28, 1923 in rural Chautauqua County, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Lettie (McAlister) McGregor.

Eva attended school at Lone Tree and Center and graduated from Moline High School.  She attended college at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.  She taught school in the rural area and did a lot of substituting in several towns.

On November 22, 1942, Eva was united in marriage to Lawrence Leon Malone at the Methodist Church parsonage in Moline, Kansas.  They made their home in Chautauqua County, Kansas until they built their new home in Moline in 1985.  Each Monday, Eva would quilt with the women at the church, and she also helped with funeral dinners. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and mending that had to be done.  For fourteen years, the Malones were members of the Moline square dance group.  At one time, Eva decorated cakes.

Eva is survived by her husband of 71 years, Lawrence Malone of the home; two sons, Alton Malone and his wife, Marie of Emporia, Kansas and Leroy Malone of Moline, Kansas; one daughter, Corrine Wood of Hurst, Texas; 9 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Countryside Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas with Pastor Dorothy Ellsworth officiating.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014.  Interment will be at Belknap Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Moline United Methodist Church or the Moline Senior Center and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside Funeral Home, 206 E.
