Freda B. Underwood, 94, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society.  Born July 16, 1919 in Grenola, Kansas, she was the daughter of Ira and Ann (Mayer) Underwood.

Freda was raised and received her education in Grenola.  She worked at the Winfield State Hospital and Training Center for over 24 years in the laundry department.  She retired in 1986.  She loved children and taught Sunday School for 20 years.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Ann Underwood; 5 sisters; and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Miles Funeral Service, 4001 E. 9th Avenue, Winfield, Kansas 67156.  Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery.  A memorial has been established in Freda's name for Heartland Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.  Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
