Mildred L. Page, 68, of Longton, Kansas, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at the Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.  She was born December 30, 1945 in Ft. Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Eileen (Hillman) Thurston.

Mildred grew up in Liberty, Missouri and graduated from the Liberty School System.  She attended the University of Missouri and received her Bachelor's Degree. She then attended Fort Hays University and received her Masters' Degree in Special Education.

In August of 1963, Mildred was united in marriage to James L. Page.  They lived in Hutchinson, Kansas for 15 years and then moved to Longton, Kansas.  James survives at their home.  Mildred was a teacher in the Wichita School System and retired after 30 years.  She enjoyed her teaching career and working with children.

Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; two daughters, Julie L. Englebrecht of Longton, Kansas and Janet E. Pinkerton of Kingman, Kansas; two sons, James K. Page of Kansas City, Missouri and Joseph C. Page of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Kenneth Thurston of Kansas City, Missouri and John Thurston of Pittsburg, Missour; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Celebration of Life services will be held May 3, 2014 at the Senior Citizen Center in Longton, Kansas.  The family has suggested memorials to the American Cancer Society, and contributions may be left with or sent to the Potts Chapel, 122 S. Penn, Independence, Kansas 67301.
