Lewis Gene Lyon, 79, a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and formerly of Howard, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 12:00 a.m. at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville.  He was born March 24, 1935 in rural Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Frank Andrew and Ruth (Foreman) Lyon.

Lewis was a Staff Sergeant in the United State Air Force, serving from 1952-1961.  He was a school principal for a few years and then served as a pastor in the Wesleyan Church for 30 years, retiring in 1994.  On October 4, 1951, he married Betty Law in Topeka, Kansas. She survives at their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Betty, include four children and spouses, Lon and Kim Lyon of Dewey, Oklahoma, Kevin and Merly Lyon of Olathe, Kansas, Twila and Gale McCammon of Howard, Kasas, and Lewis and Melissa Lyon of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three brothers, Kenneth Lyon of Olathe, Kansas, Garrold Lyon of Benton City, Washington, and Frank Lyon of Benton City, Washington; two sisters, Mildred Boster of Berryton, Kansas and Wilma Kebert of Derby, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  His parents; two brothers, Frances Lyon and Richard Lyon; five sisters, Alice McElwain, Ellamae Branson, Annabell Friend, Lucille Harmon, and Ruth Scott; and an infant daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia, Kansas with Pastor Loren Rovenstine officiating.  Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery north of Fredonia with military rites.  The family will receive friends at the church prior to the funeral from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  A memorial has been established in Lewis Lyon's name with the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia, and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.  Words of condolence for the family may be sent to www.timmonsfuneralhome.com.  Timmons Funeral Home, P.O.
