Martha Mae (Perry) Scott was born on August 23, 1924 to Charles and Etta Perry in Franklin, Kansas, the youngest of eight children.  The siblings preceding her in death are Ann, Thomas, Louise, Albert, Gladys, and Etta.  A nephew, Emerson Clark, whom the Perry family raised and was considered as a son, also preceded Martha Mae in death.  Martha passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2014 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Martha Mae attended Independence, Kansas schools and graduated from Independence High School in 1942.  She enjoyed typing, music, and was Vice-Commander of the Drum and Bugle Corps her senior year. 

She married Robert E. Oglesbee on November 12, 1942.  A son, Don, was born in 1948.  Mr. Oglesbee preceded her in death in July 1948.  Martha married Robert D. Scott on February 4, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas and was still happily married to him at the time of her death after 61 years of marriage.  A son, Larry, was born in 1955 and a son, Jeff was born in 1957.

Martha worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, was a wife, a mother, and after her boys were all in school, she worked for the Howard School District and the Independence School District in the Board of Education office.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Independence, Kansas and a longtime member of the Elk Falls and now Howard Chapter of the Eastern Star. 

Martha Mae is survived by her husband, Robert D. Scott of Independence, Kansas; sons, Don Oglesbee and his wife, Pat of Parker, Colorado, Larry Scott and his wife, Kate of Portage, Michigan, and Jeff Scott and his wife, Dayna of Wichita, Kansas; and a brother, William Perry of Weatherford, Oklahoma.  She was a proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at the Webb & Rodrick Chapel in Independence, Kansas on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain Mike Graham officiating.  Graveside services will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in the name of Martha Mae Scott to the Shriners Childrens Hospitals or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.  These donations may be left with the funeral home.  To leave a special message to the family, please visit www.webbrodrickchapel.com.  Arrangements are entrusted to Webb & Rodrick Chapel and Crematory, 306 W.
