Resurfacing of US 160 from Cowley County through Elk to Montgomery County next year probably means no super 2 revamp for at least another twenty years, if then. Sure would like to see an upgrade.
"If one of the many corrupt...county-seat contests must be taken by way of illustration, the choice of Howard County, Kansas, is ideal." Dr. Everett Dick, The Sod-House Frontier, 1854-1890.
"One of the most expensive county-seat wars in terms of time and money lost..." Dr. Homer E Socolofsky, KSU

if the counties would up grade some back roads it would take a lot of pressure off the main hiways. There is evidence there usetobe a road from Elk Falls to Longton, its about gone now.If there was a paved road from Sedan to Longton to the Buxton road we would take a lot of traffic off 160 &99.It would be a way to get tourist here.Scenic routes are a way of traveling.

A lot of " used to be paved" roads. In counties, and cities.

99 highway has many , many rollovers. And is worse after the resurfacing. Much more dangerous than 160.

that's why we wear the tires off the pickup and use the rock shard roads.
