Lewis D. (L.D.) Rogers, age 62, resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007 at St. John Medical Center at Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 in the Wann Community Center at Wann, Oklahoma with Minister Ben Killion of the First Christian Church at Owasso, Oklahoma officiating.  Interment was held in the Rogers Cemetery west of Welch, Oklahoma under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory.

L.D. was born August 28, 1944 at Grain Valley, Missouri to Everett Louis and Nellie Florien (Mitchell) Rogers.  He was raised and received his education in Wimer and Welch, Oklahoma, graduating from Welch High School in 1962.

L.D. was married to Virginia Mae Nelson on Aug. 4, 1962 at Edna, Kansas.  L. D. was employed at the Halsell ranch near Welch and later worked for Shoat Webster and the Half Circle Ranch for several years.  He began his career in law enforcement in Nowata County, Oklahoma and served as a Deputy, Investigator, and Undersheriff before starting the R & R Auction Company in Lenapah, Oklahoma.  He later moved his auction service to Chelsea, Oklahoma.

Mr. Rogers was a self-employed craftsman for many years.  In 2000 he became disabled.  L. D. attended the First Baptist Church at Lenapah and was a member of the Welch Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Dale Rogers and Kenneth Lee Rogers, both of Lenapah, Oklahoma; his mother Nellie Florien Rogers of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; three brothers, Lester Leon Rogers of Dewey, Oklahoma,  Dennis Ray Rogers of Lenapah, Oklahoma, and David Eugene Rogers of Arizona City, Arizona; three sisters Nancy Jane Hait of Oolagah, Oklahoma, Kathy Lou Cummings of Howard, Kansas, and Mary Elizabeth Johnston of Dothan, Alabama; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father.

(Mr. Rogers was a resident of the Howard Twilight Manor Nursing Home for a few years before moving back to Bartlesville, Oklahoma)
