Velma Darlene Boone of Derby, Kansas, age 86, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born January 31, 1927 in Howard, Kansas to Howard and Hazel (Hillis) Estep.

She is survived by her children, Janet (Jerry) Fager, Carolyn (Bob) Eckhardt, Myrna (Russ) Allen, and Lori (Russ)  Armstrong; her sister, Juanita Miller of Moline, Kansas; her half-sister, Pam Hobbs; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ray Boone; her parents; one brother; and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Family Mortuary, 1415 N. Rock Road, Derby, Kansas with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at Plesantview Baptist Church, 1335 N. Buckner, Derby, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
