Irene L. Simpson was born to Don and Ruby Conner in Bourbon County, Kansas on August 18, 1920 and died in Wichita, Kansas on December 22, 2013 at the age of 93.

Irene was employed in the aircraft industry while her husband, Chet, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II.  She supported Chet's construction business from 1954 to 1984.  Irene and Chet raised their family in Wichita, Kansas where Irene served as den mother, Brownie leader, and room parent.  They retired to Severy, Kansas.  Irene enjoyed traveling, league bowling, Bible Study groups, Cosmos Club, the Senior Center, and the Severy United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Gerald (Janet) Simpson of Wichita, Kansas; her daughter, Judy (Tony) Zimbelman of Wichita, Kansas; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Chester H. "Chet" Simpson and five brothers and sisters. 

Services and interment will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.  Memorial contributions may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202 or the Severy Senior Center, P.O.
