Janet Harrington

Harlan Clark Wingrave was found on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006 southwest of Severy.  He had died from injuries received in an auto accident.

Harlan was 86 years of age and a resident of Severy.  Harlan was born on April 15, 1920 at Severy to William Dickens and Lena Prudence (Bohon) Wingrave.  He attended Severy schools and graduated from Severy High School in 1938.

On April 15, 1943, he married Gwen Maree Gragg at Mineral Wells, Tex. and to this union was born a daughter, Janelle and a son, James.  Harlan served his country with the 9th Infantry Division in the European Theatre during World War II.  After the war, he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting at Kansas State University and then moved to Wichita where he was employed as an accountant for F. W. Cubic.  In 1950, the family moved to Emporia where Harlan was owner of Emporia Music Service.  Harlan and Gwen returned to the Severy community in 1985 where he owned and operated a farm until his death.  His wife has been a resident of the Howard Twilight Manor for several years.

He is survivied by his wife, Gwen; his son, James Wingrave of Wilmington, Del.; his daughter, Janelle Wills of Destin, Fla.; his brother, Melvin Wingrave of Eureka; five grandchildren, James Michael Wingrave of Chaarleston, S. Car., Melanie Padron and Jeremy Ross, both of Wylie, Tex., Chadwick Allan Wingrave of Detroit, mich. and Nicole Josephine Nesrsta of Gainesville, Fla. and one great grandson, Luke Padron.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Billy and one sister, Lois Shell.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, dec. 28, at the Severy United Methodist Church with Pastor Ron Bradley officiating.

Interment will be in the South Lawn Cemetery in Severy.

A Memorial has been established with the American parkinson Disease Association.  Contributions may be left with the funeral home.

The funeral arrangements are being made with the Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
