Mildred Esther Williams, 92, of Wichita, Kansas and formerly of Moline and Caney, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2013 at her residence in Wichita.  She was born November 20, 1920 in Oil Hill, Kansas to Ralph E. Jones and Lula (Chase) Jones.

Mildred graduated from Howard High School in Howard, Kansas.  On June 15, 1941, she married Leonard Williams in Howard, Kansas where they made their home in Elk County before moving to Caney, Kansas in 1970.  She owned and operated a floral shop and greenhouse in Moline and also worked at Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma for 25 years before she retired.  She lived in Caney until moving to Wichita, Kansas in 2001.

Mildred was a member of the Caney First United Methodist Church and was also involved in many women's organization at the church, was a member of the Business Professional Women Organization, and was a member of the Garden Club of Caney.  She enjoyed gardening, playing Rummikub, and bridge.  She also was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II.

Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Depew of Overland Park, Kansas; one son, Lynn Williams and wife, Marcia of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Vernon Jones and wife, Clara of Howard, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tanya Depew of Overland Park, Kansas, Tamara Neff and husband, Justin of Overland Park, Kansas, Damon Depew of Loveland, Colorado, and Rebecca Dikeman and husband, Cody of Glendale, Arizona; and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Williams on May 5, 1984; her sister, Wanda Forbis; and her parents.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas with burial following at Sunnylane Cemetery in Caney, Kansas.  Friends may call on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials to the Amedisys Hospice of Wichita, Kansas.  Contributions may be left with or mailed to David W.
