Dean Wyant, 75, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at his residence.  He was born in Howard, Kansas on January 29, 1938, the son of Pauline (Fralick) Wyant-Miller and Paul Wyant.

Dean was a 1955 graduate of Howard High School.  He was united in marriage on February 8, 1958 in Fliegerhorst Airfield Kaserne, Hauau, Germany to Karin Anna Gehrig.  Dean spent 27 years in the United States Army and served three tours in Vietnam.  He also served in the 101st Air Borne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  He was a retired Command Sergeant Major with the United States Army.

Dean was a member and Past Master of the Union Lodge #7 A.F. & A.M. of Junction City where he held an Unlimited Proficient Card.  He was also a member of the Grand Chapter of Kansas Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Past Worthy Grand Patron, Past Grand Secretary, Past General Grand Chapter Committee Chairman, and the York Rite Bodies in Junction City.

Dean is survived by his wife, Karin, of the home; a daughter, Angela C. Wyant of Chapman, Kansas; a son, Thomas P. Wyant and his wife, Laura of Wichita, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Ashley Connelly, Adalyn Wyant, and Benjamin Wyant.  Dean was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don Wyant; and a son, Michael C. Wyant.

At the family's request, there will be no visitation as cremation has been selected.  A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Irvin-Parkview Funeral Home Chapel officiated by a Fort Riley Chaplain with burial to follow at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, both located in Manhattan, Kansas.  The family requests memorial contributions to the Dean Wyant Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the Irwin-Parkview Funeral Home & Cremation, 1317 W. Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
