Ted Cruz's Father Delivers Epic Speech Touting Patriotism and Lambasting Obama's 'Socialist' Inclinations
Jul. 6, 2013 1:02am   Billy Hallowell

Rafael Cruz, the father of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, invigorated the crowd during tonight's FreedomWorks Free the People event.

Describing his own personal journey escaping Cuba and working hard to build a life for himself in the U.S., the elder Cruz noted comparisons that he believes exist between Fidel Castro's governance and President Barack Obama's executive actions.

Upon rising to power, he said that Castro, like Obama, spoke about hope and change. While the message sounded good at the time, it didn't take long for socialism to take root in his home country. And he paid the price....

...His plight in Cuba colored his American experience

"You can't understand a loss of rights unless you've experienced it," Cruz told TheBlaze following the speech.

His unique perspective leaves Cruz with the ability, he argues, to see the troubling signs surrounding socialism. Young people in America today, he told TheBlaze, take for granted the rights and privileges that the U.S. has afforded them....

And so do way too many adults!  Even some right here in river city.

Conservative to the Core!
Gun control means never having to fire twice.
Social engineering, left OR right usually ends in a train wreck.

Quite frankly, i suspect that our youth will never understand freedom until they lose it.  Once its gone, there will be major bloodshed to regain it.   And if they choose to lose their freedom now, then so be it. I'll be dead in 20 years and they can have it.  Good luck to them when they realize oh crap we pissed it away.

Good one for sure.

No question about Obama and the Republicans, they're socialistic.  Tyranny will not defend freedom.

Maude

I think history needs to checked when you call the republicans socialistic. I think they have tried the hardest to keep our country free. And I will not be like some people on the forum and argue about it.

Doesn't appear to be much to argue about.  A good honest look at the the Republican Party and its history says it all.  Or on a clear night, just look towards the west end of Elk County to view the red lights as a monument to socialism.

Republican party isn't any different these days than the liberal democrat party.  they all are about socialism.
I've parted ways with them because they are stupid, and cater to losing causes like the "anti-abortion crowd".  Not that i agree with abortion only that they will never get a federal act, or amendment to the constitution on that issue and it doesn't belong there.  IT is a states rights issue and always will be.  That is where we can most effectively abolish it.  They sacrifice common sense for useless ideology and that is why they are losing. The dems have it right, they band together and stick together on their issues and win.  The republicans divide themselves over non issues.

YOu know we didn't get to to 100 million people on foodstamps this week by only democrats. The republicans were party to this too.

Now 97 million are supporting 100 million.  Thats like taking on a extra child into your home with no benefit.
