Sue Elizabeth Modlin, 73, of Leon, Kansas, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.  She was born on December 24, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Granville and Alta Viola (Cartwright) Johnson.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a model for Catherine's Woman's World in Wichita and for PFS.  On October 19, 1956, she and David J. Modlin Sr. were married in Bloomington, California.  

Sue is survived by her children and their spouses, Sherlynn and Doug Hawley of Leon, Kansas, Sandra and Ron Robert of Severy, Kansas, David J. Modlin Jr. and his wife, Kathryn Boyle of Derby, Kansas, and Stacy Modlin of Leon, Kansas; the children's father, David J. Modlin of Blue Springs, Missouri; one sister, Linda Kay Turner of Leon, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Bryan, Andrew, Sarah, Joshua, and Rebecca; and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm. at the Church of the Nazarene in Severy, Kansas. Interment will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Severy.   Memorials to her memory are for the Disabled Veterans and may be left with Carlson Funeral Home, 200 S. Star, El Dorado, Kansas 67042.
