Goldie Maudine Kaminska, age 92, a resident of Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013.  She was born on January 26, 1921 in Independence, Missouri and was adopted by Arthur and Maude Lenora (Giles) Dillee from Sun City, Kansas.

Maudine graduated from Sun City High School in 1939 and attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas on a music scholarship.  She later transferred to Kansas State College of Pittsburg, Kansas and completed her teaching degree.  On January 5, 1942, she married Arlie Allison Kaminska at Kansas City, Kansas.  They lived in Kansas City for a brief time before moving to a farm near Longton, Kansas in March of 1942.  In 1951, Maudine began teaching at Longton, Kansas for four years before moving to Conway Springs, Kansas.  After one year in Conway Springs, they moved to Derby, Kansas, and Maudine taught one year at Haysville, Kansas and the next 21 years at Derby, Kansas.  Maudine and Arlie returned to their farm in Longton, and she retired from a 26-year teaching career.  In 2001, Arlie and Maudine moved to Sedan, Kansas due to ill health, and Maudine later moved to Wichita, Kansas and then returned to Sedan, Kansas, residing at Pleasant Valley Manor until her passing.

She was a good friend and neighbor and had many talents along with a gift for writing poetry.  She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maudine is survived by her children, Fred Kaminska of Tyro, Kansas, Judy Tolbert of Sedan, Kansas, Rodger Kaminska of Kansas City, Missouri, Connie Thomas of Wichita, Kansas, and David Kaminska of Sedan, Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Arlie on March 13, 2004.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 220 N. Chautauqua Street, Sedan, Kansas with Pastor Gene DeWitt officiating.  Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.  Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas.  Family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the Sedan Area Foundation for the Public Library Fund and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are entrusted to Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
