Beuna C. Taylor, a longtime resident of Howard, Kansas, passed away at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the age of 94.  The daughter of John "Monte" Edwards and Mary R. (Leonard) Edwards, Beuna was born in Oak Valley Township on August 15, 1918.

She attended high school in Longton, Kansas and later went to Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas where she earned her Masters degree in education.  She was united in marriage to Allen Taylor on June 21, 1947 in Independence, Kansas.  Allen passed away in 1974.

Beuna spent 43 years educating students in one-room schoolhouses and later in Elk Falls, Kansas and Haysville, Kansas.  Following that, she became involved in many organizations such as Delta Kappa Gamma, Eastern Star, Loyal Lima's EHU, the library board, Benson Museum board, and most importantly, the National Education Association.

Beuna is survived by her sister, Ernestine Cannon of Latham, Kansas and two sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Edwards of Sedan, Kansas and Wilda Grace Lewis of Belle Plaine, Kansas.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Taylor; her brothers, Montgomery, Chelsea, and Kenneth Edwards; and her sister, Marie Seimears.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Family has suggested memorials to the Howard City Library and the Benson Museum and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
