Fern Crowl, 85, a resident of Twilight Manor in Howard, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013.  Fern was born March 31, 1928 in Hazelton, Kansas to Hardy D. and Ida May Adams Swafford.

On June 11, 1944, Fern was united in marriage to Harold Crowl.  She was a wife and homemaker, raising their six children and many that needed a home or some "Mothering Love".  She entered the work force after her children were gone from the home doing cooking and housekeeping until the age of 75.

Survivors include her son, Sam Crowl and wife, Sue of Arkansas City, Kansas; daughters, Bonnie Jacobs of Haysville, Kansas, Cathy Warrington and husband, Ron of Howard, Kansas, Sharon Harris and husband, Bruce of Goddard, Kansas, Charlotte McMallow of Howard, Kansas, and Betty Davis of Wichita, Kansas; sisters, Eva Cox and Irene Vanatta, both of Wichita, Kansas; a brother, Lee Ridgway and wife, Wilma of Perry, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild, Shannon McMallow; two sisters, Joyce O'Conner and Lena Barnes; and three brothers, Ray, Lloyd, and Carl Swafford.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Kiowa, Kansas.  Burial followed in Riverview Cemetery.  Arrangements were handled by Lanman Funeral Home of Kiowa, Kansas.
