Michael Dee "Mike" Meyer, age 63, a resident of Howard, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013 at his home surrounded by family.  He was born on April 11, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Harry Deroy and Helen Marie (Thomas) Meyer.

From January 1970 to September 1971, Mike served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  On May 31, 1975, he was united in marriage to Belinda Kay White in Towanda, Kansas.  For many years, he farmed and raised cattle.  Mike also managed the Co-Op and the Alfalfa Mill in Longton, Kansas, and he worked as a game preserve technician for Flint Oak.  Mike enjoyed fishing and hunting coyotes.

Mike is survived by his wife, Belinda Meyer of Howard, Kansas; one daughter, Tana Harrod and her husband, Steve of Piedmont, Kansas; three sons, Heath Meyer and his wife, Stephanie of Alton, Kansas, Hadley Meyer of Beloit, Kanss and Hobe Meyer of Meridian Mississippi; two brothers, Chuck Meyer and his wife, Carol of Augusta, Kansas and Joe Meyer of El Dorado, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Steven and James.

Per Mike's request, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home with Pastor Robin Haines officiating.  Family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
