Prayers going up for the little girl and her entire family, including the poor babysitter who was in charge at the time.

Thanks Cat . That family needs all the prayers they can get.Emily has several more surgeries to go. She had a number of other bites besides the arm.Our ambulance crew was pretty much devastated by the whole thing too.I'm glad I didn't have that one!

Little Emily is slowing being awakened from the induced coma. There is a pulse in the hand but she still has several more surgeries, starting tomorrow. The surgeons are dog bite specialists, so she has the best chance there is.  The one doc said it's the worst mauling he's ever seen that has lived.
She is a student at Newark Charter. That's the one Al and I have been so involved with for the last 13 years. They are making lots of cards for her and prayers are flying, of course. His father has been wonderful at keeping all of us up to date on his face book page. At least the tests showed the dog was not rabid.
I made a big mistake a little while ago. I was interested in what Nancy and Frawn were saying to Ross, so I opened it. Usually I don't read him any more because it's a waste of time. He is just a walking insult machine with no interest an anyone elses opinion.  I tried for a long time and had to admit defeat and gave up.
I can't believe he is still licking his wounds from apparently being embarrassed at the first, or at least early, Elk Konnected organizational meeting. It's been years and he still stuck there. He has even taken  ideas suggested by the attendees and claims that they were E.K.'s ideas, when all they did was compile them and read them to the folks who were there.  It's no wonder they didn't allow him to address the group. They didn't trust him and it now seems for good reason. All he seems to want to do is agitate, and be the center of attention even when he does have good ideas sometimes. He has a very immature way of presenting ideas, full of insults and personal attacks. He would be much happier with a dictatorship and not a democratic process. Perhaps he and Red could move into their own compound, and keep each other stirred up and suspiciously eye everyone else...LOL!

It has been very interesting watching your local politics. "Everyone" wants Doug Ritz, but he lost the election to a newcomer. Has anyone even asked him if he wants a write in campaign on his behalf?  Or has he graciously accepted his defeat and moved on?  I'm not sure he would want a bunch who have such an angry, pushy "stick in your eye" reputation as supporters.
Little Emily has more surgery tomorrow. She still can't stand or hold her head up, which is a worry. They have already stated her chances of having function in the mangled arm are very slim.
There has since been another such incident in Wilmington, with a loose Pitbull attacking a woman out on the sidewalk and seriously injurying her arm before bystanders were able to choke the dog enough so it would let go. Again, the animal had to be shot by police. The history of the dog is unknown, so the poor woman had to start rabies shots right away.
I had my first eye appointment leading up to cataract surgery on the 19th and the Doc discovered I have developed a wrinkle on my left retina. So off to the retina specialist I must go, and quick.
Since this is Fire Prevention Week, don't forget to check your smoke detectors replace them if they are more than 10 years old. Feed them new batteries too.

So you like dirty politics in Delaware, huh?
And enjoy backstabbing like your friends here locally, huh?
And ya like it in the CoffeShop on our local forum, huh?
Perhaps you should learn some manners and acquire some couth?

And in case you are not aware it was only a primary election.

The main election is in November, teacher?
And write ins are allowed and counted.

Perhaps your Elk Konnected friend will loose this time when it really counts.

But of what concern is it of yours?
You don't live here.
You don't vote here.

And for you to bad mouth people behind their back is simply terrible, especially when you have no knowledge of what you speak. It is your "stick in your eye" to us that is inexcusable.

But you did get one thing right, Everyone wants an honest County Commissioner and that would be

"Doug Ritz"           "Doug Ritz"              "Doug Ritz"              "Doug Ritz"             "Doug Ritz"

If you don't like politics in the coffee shop don't start it. You know it doesn't belong here, don't
you teacher? Or are rules only for school children and not teachers?

Okay, now you can break loose and call me all the nasty names you can think of. I won't mind even a little bit.   Have a good evening in the good  ole state of Delaware.

Ross, I'm assuming you said something to me worthy of your usual crap. I didn't read any of it as I could care less. You are just a minnow in a puddle.
Thanks Cat.A retinal "wrinkle" can be minor or very serious. We'll see what's what, but it will complicate things for a time.

Diane Amberg

Don't have much happy to report. Little Emily has a bad place where the shoulder and the arm come together that is not healing as it should. I'm not sure what they'll do about that.
We  lost one of our young 20 year old Probie EMTs in a two fatality car accident Thursday evening. Terrible! It was in our response area so we had to handle it.He lost control for some reason, crossed the center line and hit an on coming car head on. He and his best friend front seat passenger ,both belted, flipped end over end several times, landed on the roof and skidded on down the road on its top. (The other driver was injured, but will be OK.) They were both crushed and killed instantly. Speed was a factor. That was so unlike him. He was to go to med school from UD. We had the CISD team come in to talk to his Aetna friends. A very nice young man and a terrible loss.
Tomorrow night we judge the fire prevention contest entries... fun but tiring . I still have one more kid's tour to do ...every year since 1980! The owner of the preschool has decided to retire and I'll retire with her.
I'm still having Dr's appointments getting ready for my eye work...then I start again to have the other eye done. At least my third eye is fine. HA! I have rather serious astigmatism in my right eye, so we'll fix that while we're at it. It takes a special lens.  Very pricey, and no insurance covers that part, but it will be worth it.
Al brought the house plants inside for me today and they are now safely settled under the grow light in the basement. It so feels like fall here with colorful dry leaves rattling down the street.
We had to have a big front yard tree taken down recently. I miss its bright yellow leaves, but its absence opens up the yard and lets in much more morning light. Now I have to decide whether to replace it and if so, with what. Have a fun Sunday afternoon.
