I stayed up much too late last night watching the live coverage of Dallas. At first it took me right back to 1963.
Now I'm just so sad for all those broken hearted families. I hate to see all this divisiveness with "them" and who is right and who "deserves" to die. Being angry about something shouldn't mean a death sentence for other people. It's too complicated to let that happen.
Life is not always fair, and killing people doesn't even up the score. Fortunately the public, some of whom surely were armed in an open carry city, stayed out of it and let the police do what they needed to do. It will be interesting, but very sad, to see how this all plays out and what the ripple effect will be.

Thanks. I saw the news but it didn't tell much. The occasional ones we get here are rarely more than a one.Glad nobody was killed.

Caught a bug and I feel lousy. Yuk.  I was looking at some video from a Baltimore City apt. fire. The audio was on .The apt fire was very involved.
The firefighters were were breaking out windows and taking a section of roof to ventilate to hold it to the one apt and keep it from spreading to the ones next door. One bystander was heard to say "Sometimes the fire fighters cause more damage than the fire  does." Talk about clueless. They have no idea. Very sad. I wonder if they would rather have the firefighters wait until the heat builds so much it blows the windows out for them?

I'm feeling better, but I'm really angry. Our local deer came through and took the top buds and many of the big leaves from all my various kinds of Hosta and many of the buds from the late season Day Lilies. Fortunately the mid season ones are in full tilt and look beautiful, along with a lot of regular lilies that scent the yard so nicely.Have good day.

Little Delaware had a fire service tragedy yesterday evening. An experienced Lewis firefighter was killed when he was participating in a helicopter rescue  practice/training operation. As he stepped out on the skid to repel down, he fell and was killed instantly. We are so small that everyone in the fire service knows everyone. We are all devastated. RIP Tim McClanahan.

More rough stuff for the Aetna firefighters. Yesterday evening one of our engines was responding to a box alarm when a man stepped out, threw a bottle and smashed the front window. I was amazed how much damage was done by one bottle. This is the second incident here and it is so unusual. I'm very sad that it has come to this....and of course what happened in Nice. It just doesn't stop.Very depressing.I'm ready for our little vacation next week.

Back from our little mini vacation to Wellsboro PA, home to the Grand Canyon of PA.
Today is our 46th anniversary and we got to spend the afternoon with our fire company friends picking crabs at our annual picnic. That's a great way to spend a special day. It's extremely hot here, but the big picnic pavilion is back in the edge of a nice woods and that made it cooler. The good breeze blowing helped out too.Thinking of my good Kansas friends.
