I hope everyone has enjoyed and recovered from a wonderful Thanksgiving. Later today I'll pack away all the Halloween decorations that made it to the basement, but not back into their storage tubs. I'll take down the Thanksgiving decorations and take them down to store away too. I'm determined to be really organized this year....I hope.
It's still a bit soon for me to decorate for Christmas, but by next weekend I'll have the itch for sure. We'll get our tree soon and put it in a big tub of water in the garage until we have time later on to set it up. In a few minutes I go back to my ophthalmologist for one last check on my left eye. It has it's "fix" on Wednesday morning.  The right eye is doing great. I'll be glad to be finished with this all...especially the eye drops so often. I hate eye drops. Have a nice day and stay warm.

I had my left eye surgeryat 6:30 yesterday. All went very well.I'm glad to be finished even though I had to be at his office for a quick check at 7:45 this morning. Everything looks fine he says. Both eyes are back to 20/20. Hooray!

HELP!  I'm talking and I can't shut up!

I came...  I saw...  I had NO idea what was going on...

Diane Amberg

Yes. Thanks. Are you having all the rain and flooding where you are?

larryJ

Diane, we don't live in a flood zone although a few miles to the north of us are the San Gabriel mountains which have seen wild fires in recent years.  Those who live in that area can expect flooding and mudslides.  We did get about two inches from this storm.  It is very much needed.  Our average rainfall is about 15 inches.  The rainfall season runs from July 1 to June 30.  They have told us that in order to fix our severe drought conditions we would need 75 inches of rain to refill reservoirs and lakes to their normal capacity.

Woo! You sure do have a bad drought going on there. I'm glad you aren't in the flood areas though. Those California rivers really are full right now. I saw the mud photos on TV. awful.

Today I really need a hug. I had both eyes' cataracts taken care of a month apart with easy success, and now comes the several weeks of drops 4 times a day and at least a week of sleeping with an eye shield, no heavy lifting or snow shoveling, etc. Then 6 more weeks of occasional follow up visits. Not a big deal, just busy.and waiting for the left eye to completely heal an not be so blurry. I have several busy weeks ahead also with kid's parties adult parties and activities and of course Bingo for two more Mondays before the holiday break.
So what's the problem? Yesterday afternoon Al suddenly lost his vision in his left eye. He said it was like someone smeared Vaseline across it. YIKES! It had to be on a Saturday, so our doc was off to someone else, whose office is many miles away and it was pouring rain. He did call us back through his answering service and away we went...Very nice and competent seeming young man. Sure enough, we had guessed what might had happened.
Al had a cataract removed in the mid nineties and the implant lens had suddenly lost the little biological "springs' that held it in place .It slipped away.  But now? Jeez! It will take a more complicated surgery with flaps and stitches, a new lens and I don't know what all, but he should be fine eventually. He has to call her office first thing tomorrow... for hopefully a prompt appointment. Now I have to find out where in downtown Wilmington she is and where the surgery will be. So, right when we should have been at our fire company Christmas banquet, we were driving home in a rainstorm at 5:30. I was sure glad to get home! Our friends will wonder what happened to us. It's always something isn't it? Have a good day!

We have an appointment with the recommended specialist this afternoon, an hour away, so I had to clear my schedule. If surgery is required, it will probably be on Thursday. I hope the weather holds as I am not a good slick road driver. Couldn't this have happened in June? HA!

Al has his surgery at 7:00 Thursday morning in Wilmington at the surgicenter  at the Wilmington Hospital. It's rather complicated and will require general anesthesia, sutures and I don't know what all
Nobody knows for sure what the outcome will be, but if any one can repair it well, Dr.Ko can. Now I have to take him to his primary Doc for his preop EKG and a presurgical check up at 1:30. Of course it's raining again.
