Vera Lee Karr, age 88, a resident of Montgomery Place in Independence, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013.  She was born on the Lee Ranch near Winchester, Kansas on April 1, 1924, the daughter of Roscoe Vasco and Della May (Fidler) Daniels.

On September 23, 1941, Vera was united in marriage to Robert Lester "Bob" Karr in Platte City, Missouri.  Vera worked as a beauty operator.  She also worked for 3 years for Perkins Hardware and 10 years at Batson's Drug Store in Howard, Kansas and 6 1/2 years as a CMA for Elk Manor Nursing Home in Moline, Kansas and later Howard Twilight Manor.  She was an avid reader and  also enjoyed gardening, quilting, canning, and collecting antiques.

Vera is survived by her brothers, Warren Daniels and his wife, Leota of McLouth, Kansas and Robert Daniels Sr. and his wife, Karen of Elk City, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob Karr, and one brother, Victor Daniels.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard, Kansas.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery.  Family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
