Number Of Background Checks For Gun Purchases Since Obama Took Office:

70,291,049...

Almost Double The Amount Under Bush

http://cnsnews.com/blog/gregory-gwyn-williams-jr/70291049-background-checks-gun-purchases-under-obama

Obuma really is the greatest gun salesman of all-time.
There have been 70,291,049 background checks for gun purchases since President Obama took office, according to data released by the FBI.

Over the same time period, the number of background checks completed under President George W. Bush was 36,090,415, or about half the number conducted under Obama.

For more than half a century, switchblades have been illegal in Kansas.  Elvis Presley's "Don't," The Platters' "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," and Danny & the Juniors' "At the Hop" were among the top-selling songs in the country when the Kansas state government banned ownership of switchblade knives and stilettos in 1958.

That's about to change... the state's "banned weapons" list is poised to become a bit shorter.

It's so rare and refreshing to hear that a governing body has decided to relinquish some of its control over the citizenry, to remove a ban, a restriction, or an archaic law, instead of adding more bans, more restrictions, more laws.

Kudos, Kansas....  Keep it up.

Bill legalizing switchblades passes Senate
http://www.kansas.com/2013/04/03/2745420/bill-legalizing-switchblades-passes.html

Kansas lawmakers are about to lift a 55-year ban on the ownership of switchblade knives and stilettos.

The state Senate passed a bill to legalize the long-outlawed blades and the House is expected to give final approval on Thursday, the Wichita Eagle reports.

A law that was passed in 1958, when youth gangs ran rampant, prohibited the manufacturing, selling, or possession of switchblades and stilettos in the Sunflower State.

Supporters of lifting the ban argued that switchblades are useful to people such as emergency workers and farmers who might need to open a knife with one hand while using the other.

"[Switchblade] sounds dangerous and negative," Republican Rep. Sue Boldra, who supported the bill, told the newspaper.

"However, living in America, I still believe that a law-abiding citizen has many rights . . . There are purposes for them that don't have to be for crime."

Our POS/POTUS has LOST the Gun Control Debate.  Krauthammer: Obama Has Lost on Gun Control – He Just Wants the Cash!!!

Gaffe of the week... Pres. Obama made an absurd statement while he was speaking at a California Democrat fundraiser (wasn't the election from Hades over just a few months ago? Why is he fundraising again already?). While speaking in San Francisco, he said that a "fully automatic weapon" was used at Sandy Hook Elementary School when Adam Lanza opened fire on innocent children and school staff.

No. It was not.

The weapon used by Lanza to murder those babies in Newtown was NOT a "fully automatic weapon," Mr. President. We've been told repeatedly that Lanza used a Bushmaster .223-caliber AR-15 rifle, which is a semi-automatic. He also had two handguns with him, a 10-mm Sig Sauer and a 9-mm Glock, both of which are also semi-automatic pistols.

Did the president accidentally blunder, or deliberately lie?

Allahpundit at Hot Air is giving Pres. Obama the benefit of the doubt for his gigantic gaffe, his false "fully automatic weapon" claim.

A magnanimous gesture, one that the liberal media would never have made if Pres. George W. Bush had made the same ridiculous error and/or committed the same manipulation of the truth... Did Obama tell a Democratic audience that a "fully automatic weapon" was used at Newtown?

A few Hot Air readers' comments on Obama's "fully automatic weapon" blunder:

From Bishop:
What a jackass, what an embarrassing, petulant, jackass fool we have as preznit.

If the Founders knew we would eventually reach the point of electing a bugwit like Dog Eater, they probably would have burned the Declaration and said "What's the point in fighting and sacrificing?"

From rogerb:
It doesn't matter because his supporters don't know or care, either.

Facts, knowledge of the topic, and well-reasoned positions are not important in this debate.

From hawkeye54:
To most leftists, any gun beyond a flintlock muzzle loader, is a "fully automatic weapon".

Repeated publicly, loudly, passionately, and hourly, will get the low-info voting public to believe it and cry for the outlawing of anything privately owned that doesn't use ball and black powder ammo, and maybe even that.

From Schadenfreude:
Obama puts Muenchhausen, Orwell, Machiavelly and Pinocchio to shame, all in one...but his sheeple don't know who these people were.

ATF Yanks Federal License Of CT Gun Retailer Who Legally Sold
Weapon To Mother Of Adam Lanza, Refuses To Explain Why

So... the Feds can give no reason, yank the license of a gun store that violated no laws of which we know.  Why do this?  To frighten other gun stores.  You are now suddenly evil for having a law-abiding profession.  But radicals like that bitch Kathy Boudin who kill people can get hired by colleges and paid big money.  Unreal.  If you think that China, Russia, N.Korea and most ME countries are our biggest enemies... Sorry... you are wrong.  America's biggest enemy is the Obama Adm., the far-left media and socialist democrats.

(Reuters) – The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms said on Friday it had revoked the federal license of a Connecticut gun retailer that sold a weapon to the mother of Adam Lanza, who killed 26 people at an elementary school in December.

The agency on December 20 revoked the license of Riverview Gun Sales in East Windsor, Connecticut, ATF spokeswoman Debora Seifert said. The revocation was reported in The Journal News, of Westchester County, New York, on Friday.

"We did revoke their federal firearms license," she said. The agency did not publicly disclose a reason for the closure.

A woman who answered the telephone at Riverview on Friday, and did not give her name, confirmed the store had sold a weapon to Lanza's mother, Nancy, and that its license had been revoked. She declined further comment.

Nancy Lanza was her son's first victim in the December 14 attack. He shot her in their family home before driving to Sandy Hook Elementary School, Newtown, where he gunned down 20 young children and six adults before shooting himself dead.

The weapons Adam Lanza, 20, used in the attack were all legally purchased and registered.

3D Printed Guns (Documentary)

Published on Mar 25, 2013

Cody R Wilson has figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of his own home. Now he's putting all the information online so that others will join him.
--
This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 25 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology. This makes him a highly controversial figure on both sides of the gun control issue. MOTHERBOARD sat down with Cody in Austin, Texas to talk about the constitution, the legal system, and to watch him make and test-fire a 3D-printed gun.

PRINTABLE 3D GUN Creator Cody Wilson Meets With Alex Jones. The SYSTEM is SCARED

Alex welcomes crypto-anarchist and law student Cody Wilson who developed and published open source gun designs suitable for 3D printing. Cody will join Alex in-studio.

The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized are: To defend the civil liberty of popular access to arms as guaranteed by the United States Constitution and affirmed by the United States Supreme Court, through facilitating global access to, and the collaborative production of, information and knowledge related to the 3D printing of arms; and to publish and distribute, at no cost to the public, such information and knowledge in promotion of the public interest.

That technology is evolving before his very eyes. The RepRap Project aims to produce free and open source software for 3D printers, including software that allows the printer to produce its own parts. Two years ago RepRap allowed printers to create tiny plastic parts for small motors as well as circuit boards for computers. Today it allows hobbyists to build household items like fully-functional clocks, flashlights, iPad cases, watchbands ... and receivers for rifles.

And it is this virtual explosion in technology that is making other gun controllers increasingly nervous, including Mark Gibbs, a contributor at Forbes,

A video showing a gun magazine created by a 3D printer was pulled off YouTube today, only to reappear later in the afternoon.

The removal notice for the popular clip, which was posted by a Texas group known as Defense Distributed, said the video was removed "as a violation of YouTube's policy against spam, scams, and commercially deceptive content."

Their idea is nothing short of a slap in the face to gun legislation everywhere: an open-source site where gun enthusiasts from around the world convene to share and download gun design blueprints and files.

When Stratasys Inc, the 3D printer manufacturing company that leased the printer, caught wind of what Cody Wilson and his organization Defense Distributed were planning to use their printer for, they issued an email last week stating they would need to confiscate their printer prior to it even being used.

Wilson, a 2nd year University of Texas law student, and his group raised $20,000 last month to fund an operation known as the Wiki Weapon Project. The project's goal was to produce a firearm solely using a 3D printer to manufacture all parts. Once the plans are tested and finalized, the group would then upload the files to the Internet for literally anyone to download, print and ultimately assemble.

The email was addressed to Wilson himself and came on behalf of Stratasys' Legal Counsel, stating:
"It is the policy of Stratasys not to knowingly allow its printers to be used for illegal purposes. Therefore, please be advised that your lease of the Stratasys uPrint SE is canceled at this time and Stratasys is making arrangements to pick up the printer."

"The only protest I had, the only exchange back I had was, "Well, legal counsel, our opinion is if these weapons are title I weapons, we don't need registration, we don't need license, we don't need anyone's approval to do this. This is totally legal, this is America," you know? Patriotism," Wilson told Infowars.com. "That wasn't good enough for them, and they emailed me back and they said "Look, we're not gonna get into a legal debate about it. We want it back," and so fine."

"If you aim to sell your services as a gunsmith (e.g., "I charge $50 an hour to make a gun") or you intend to sell the weapon once you've made it (e.g., "I charge $500 for this particular gun"), you need to obtain a federal manufacturer's license. [1140] If the weapon is for personal use, no manufacturing license is required.

Gun Control can be Passed Only If Republicans Sell Out

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Tell them Gun Owners OPPOSE "universal" background checks.

"Gun-control measures that seemed destined to become law after the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., are in jeopardy amid a fierce lobbying campaign by firearms advocates." – The Washington Post, April 1, 2013

We realize that you have been receiving several alerts from Gun Owners of America in recent days. And while we apologize for filling your to-do list so frequently, we hope you realize that we are in an all-out fight to stop Congress from infringing upon our liberties.

Your activism is making a difference, but we need to keep the pressure on!

As so, as we approach "gun control Armageddon" next week, we are faced, not surprisingly, with "sell-outs and rumors of sell-outs."

But we can conclude that all gun control will die UNLESS Republicans flinch. And this is why, now that anti-gun Senator Chuck Schumer is on the verge of a humiliating defeat, he's scrambling for some feckless Republican who will help him turn GOP victory into GOP defeat.

Anti-gun columnist Ruth Marcus spoke for Schumer last Wednesday morning when she suggested that, as a desperation measure, anti-gunners might have to drop record-keeping from the universal registry bill.

But even if ALL record-keeping were dropped, which is doubtful, background checks would mean that:

•Americans would still have to get the government's permission to own a firearm from whatever source.
•Americans in rural areas without access to the Internet could be barred from gun ownership.
•The Brady Check system would break down on weekends even more often than it currently does.
•Eight percent of all applicants would still be illegally denied the right to purchase firearms through "false negatives."
•Schumer would still claim that he "broke the back of the gun lobby."
•The universal registry bill would still be nothing but a vehicle for consideration of other gun control now – and a platform for gun control demands in the future.

The solution to all of this is easy, and it's for Senators to support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster! Tell them not to let Congress sidle up to the gun control buffet and to defeat the motion to proceed to gun control.

ACTION: Click here to contact your Senators. Demand they support the Paul-Cruz-Lee filibuster and oppose the motion to proceed to any gun control vehicle:  http://capwiz.com/gunowners/issues/alert/?alertid=62562581

The system will automatically select a pre-written editable response, depending upon whether your Senator is a Republican or Democrat.

Teen Girl's Pro-Gun Video Gets 2.3 Million Hits

A teenage girl skyrocketed to the center of the gun control debate when a YouTube video of her three-minute pro-gun speech went viral, acquiring more than 2.3 million views.

Sarah Merkle, 15 of Maryland, has been shooting guns for almost eight years and is a member of the Maryland Rifle Club and Maryland State Rifle Club. She says in the video that signing anti-gun legislation would not be doing away with gun violence but rather "liberating American citizens of our constitutional rights."

(my comment) She needs her gun shooting scholarships to prestigious universities.
Will we deny her advanced education? (my comment)
