Marjorie Simpson died  Sunday, February 15, 1987 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.  She was 81 years of age.  Marjorie was born on July 24, 1905 at Tuscola, Ill., to Alfred and Lillian (Saunders) Wucherpfening.  Her family moved to Parsons, Kan. in 1916, then came to Howard in 1919 where Marjorie graduated from Howard High School in 1925.  She taught school in Elk County for two years, and was employed by businesses in Howard until 1944 when she began work at the Elk County Courthouse.  During her employment at the courthouse, Marjorie worked from 1945 to 1955 for her brother, Ray Wucherpfening, who was County Clerk.

On March 8, 1956, she married Willard Orville Simpson at the Methodist Church in Howard, where they made their home and farmed near town.  Willard preceded her in death on November 14, 1976.

Marjorie was a member of the Howard United Methodist church and the Lamplighters Circle.

She is survived by her sister, Esther Morgan of Howard, a sister-in-law Opal Wucherpfenig of Howard, five nephews and two nieces.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willard, two brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 1987 in the Zimmerman Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Bumstead officiating.  Mrs. Velette Smith was the organist with Mrs. Barbara Greenwood singing "Take My Hand Precious Lord" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."  The casket bearers were Carl Morgan, Curtis Morgan, Ruel Penhorwood, Robert Marrs, Tim Coble and David Magers.  Interment was held in Grace Lawn Cemetery at Howard.  A memorial has been established with the Howard United Methodist Church. The funeral arrangements were made with the Zimmerman Funeral Home of Howard.
