How do your kids measure up?

Complete article:  http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/22-stats-that-prove-that-there-is-something-seriously-wrong-with-young-men-in-america

When are we finally going to admit that we have a very serious problem with this generation of young men in America?  We have failed them so dramatically that it is hard to put it into words...

...There is even a name for this generation of young men that does not want to grow up.  It is called the "Peter Pan generation".  They want to enjoy the benefits of being grown up without ever taking on the responsibilities...

...A member of this "Peter Pan generation" recent wrote an article for the Daily Mail in which he discussed what he and his friends are going through...

   " I haven't yet had to grow up so, well, I haven't.

Reckless, irresponsible and immature? Yes. But at least I can take comfort in the fact I am not alone.

Last week, I read that there is even a name for people such as me. We are the 'Peter Pan generation'; a sizeable group of 25 to 40-year-olds who exist in a state of extended adolescence, avoiding the trappings of responsibility — marriage, mortgage, children — for as long as possible."...

...The following are 22 stats that prove that there is something seriously wrong with young men in America today...

#1 Males account for approximately 70 percent of all Ds and Fs in U.S. public schools.

#2 About two-thirds of all students in "special education programs" are boys.

#3 The average American girl spends 5 hours a week playing video games.  The average American boy spends 13 hours a week playing video games.

#4 The average young American will spend 10,000 hours playing video games before the age of 21.

#5 One study discovered that 88 percent of all Americans between the ages of 8 and 18 play video games, and that video game addiction is approximately four times as common among boys as it is among girls.

#6 At this point, 15-year-olds that attend U.S. public schools do not even rank in the top half of all industrialized nations when it comes to math or science literacy.

#7 In 2011, SAT scores for young men were the worst that they had been in 40 years.

#8 According to a survey conducted by the National Geographic Society, only 37 percent of all Americans between the ages of 18 and 24 can find the nation of Iraq on a map.

#9 According to the New York Times, approximately 57 percent of all young people enrolled at U.S. colleges are women.

#10 It is being projected that women will earn 60 percent of all Bachelor's degrees from U.S. universities by the year 2016.

#11 Even if they do graduate from college, most of our young men still can't find a decent job.  An astounding 53 percent of all Americans with a bachelor's degree under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed during 2011.

#12 Pornography addiction is a major problem among our young men.  An astounding 30 percent of all Internet traffic now goes to pornography websites, and one survey found that 25 percent of all employees that have Internet access in the United States even visit sex websites while they are at work.

#13 In the United States today, 47 percent of all high school students have had sex.

#14 The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate on the entire planet.  If our young men behaved differently this would not be happening.

#15 In the United States today, one out of every four teen girls has at least one sexually transmitted disease.  If our young men were not sex-obsessed idiots running around constantly looking to "score" these diseases would not be spreading like this.

#16 Right now, approximately 53 percent of all Americans in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket are living at home with their parents.

#17 According to one survey, 29 percent of all Americans in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket are still living with their parents.

#18 Young men are nearly twice as likely to live with their parents as young women the same age are.

#19 Overall, approximately 25 million American adults are living with their parents in the United States right now according to Time Magazine.

#20 Today, an all-time low 44.2% of Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 are married.

#21 Back in 1950, 78 percent of all households in the United States contained a married couple.  Today, that number has declined to 48 percent.

#22 Young men are about four times more likely to commit suicide as young women are.

I there any timeline corelation between these stats and the advent of Dr Spock telling parents how to raise their children, the elimination of corpral punishment in school, and such?

Would you allow me to smack your child if he was really acting up?....probably not. Just the "other kid" right? 8)

I appreciate your putting in the females that also may have this syndrome...After all, we all grew up watching Disney's Peter Pan" (my personal recap):
Peter Pan, lurks around young children's bedroom eavesdropping on stories and conversation.  Then one night boldy gets into said bedroom, and creates a bond so that Wendy flies away with Peter (and her siblings......neglect?) to take care of the lost 'boys' of the hood in never-never-land.  Don't even get me started on that 'tinkerbell'  gender thing!!!

(takes out tongue in cheek).  If I smoked dope, I bet I could make a p0rn movie without even changing the lines!

ready, to re-read this book!   (and grow up!   lol)

you can scyber smack me, Diane...I know 'it's formy own good!"
ready....to duck

Make the chain; for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
Wherefore I will bring the worst of the nations, and they shall possess their houses; I will also make the pride of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be profaned.
Horror is coming; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none.
Calamity shall come upon calamity, and rumour shall be upon rumour; and they shall seek a vision of the prophet, and instruction shall perish from the priest, and counsel from the elders.
The king shall mourn, and the prince shall be clothed with depression, and the hands of the people of the land shall be enfeebled; I will do unto them after their way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the LORD" ....Ezekiel

One of the bloodiest crimes in America is the murder of innocent, helpless unborn children.  If we were to have a moment of silence for every child killed from the beginning of that "right" and "freedom" to kill for convenience, we would need to be silent for 100 years.  But, as there is no end to this violence, we would have to be silent forever andperhaps that would not be a bad thing.

In the past 40 years  well over 52,000,000 have been killed violently but 'legally' and without any gun in sight.

That is 1,300,000 children a year.

That is  3561 children every single day.

148 children every hour.

In 2011 there were 14,000 homicides in the USA in a population of 350,000,000 people... compared to 1,300,000 abortions per year.

It is dangerous to be tiny, helpless and unborn in America today.  And, as a result, dangerous for everyone.  The climate today is ugly in almost all walks of life.  It is a climate of freewheeling self indulgence, self-interested and self centered thinking.  In this kind of climate what can you grow?  The harvest in this climate can only be more violence and blood.

Thanks for giving a lucid answer to my question, Delaware, or not.

Frankly, from what I see out of your posts, I wouldn't let YOU anywhere near a child of mine. A caring teacher, however, would have my permission to punish my child for misbehaving.

Diane Amberg

Bull, good, natural, well trained teachers don't have to hit young kids, as I have said many times before.
Steve and I have discussed this long before you ever came along. I had classes in "conflict resolution" as it is called today. Then it was just called "classroom management" and included individual and group discipline.
Besides ,the kids can always tell you the personalities of their classmates...The trouble makers, the class clowns, the smart kids ,the dumb kids, the really shy ones, the strange kids ,and the socially awkward ones. Most are just nice, ordinary kids who usually get along with everyone.
Kids can have bad days. Verbal and physical explosions can happen, but that doesn't mean hitting is the answer ,especially in school. We had kids from incompetent, non functional families, who hit their kids much too often, until they thought that was the only way disputes could ever be solved. They just copied what they learned at home. Spouse abuse was part of it too.
I only had a major set to with a child once, an I've already told that story. I stopped a big kid from killing a smaller one. He was a totally out of control, big for his age retarded child, who was in the process of strangling another child to death.
A far as your insults to me, who cares. My school families and I knew the truth...who cares about you? I have no respect for your nasty ignorant attitude anyway, when it comes to who I am.
Most of my students went on to become quite successful as good teachers, and local business men ,farmers, horsemen, auto workers, military workers or soldiers, industrial trades men, doctors, nurses, lawyers and a judge, among other things. A couple who went on to become teachers told me it was because of me...always makes me smile. So I guess I didn't do too much wrong, now did I? ;)

Obviously, you can't answer the question. As usual, we get to hear all about you, instead of pertinent information.

Diane Amberg

So what was your question to me? This has bounced all over the place and I didn't know anything was directed at me in particular.
