There are a couple of blue birds still visiting my bird bath.  Isn't this unusual and what are their chances of surviving the winter?

Blue birds stay around all year long. Make sure they have shelter (which you do) and drinking water.
And feed if you can afford it. They do love those little wormy things. Forgot what they are called. mealy? maybe.
