Obama executive order expands Homeland Security reach into local law enforcement

President Barack Obama signed an executive order Friday that expanded the Department of Homeland Security's ties to local law enforcement.

The executive order creates a White House Homeland Security Partnership Council and Steering Committee, aimed at fostering local partnerships between federal and private institutions "to address homeland security challenges."

The council will be chaired by "the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism (Chair), or a designee from the National Security Staff." The Council chair will also chair the Steering Committee.

The executive order comes weeks after a damning Senate report on Homeland Security's 77 fusion centers, which the Washington Post called "pools of ineptitude, waste and civil liberties intrusions."

Notice the Agenda 21 keywords throughout:  Partnership Council, stakeholders

And then there's this:  "we must tap the ingenuity outside government through strategic partnerships with the private sector, nongovernmental organizations, foundations, and community-based organizations. Such partnerships are critical to U.S. success at home and abroad, and we will support them through enhanced opportunities for engagement, coordination, transparency, and information sharing." This approach recognizes that, given the complexities and range of challenges, we must institutionalize an all-of-Nation effort to address the evolving threats to the United States.

The last time I was down at the Elk County Courthouse, the Sheriff's office
was flying only the U S flag, not a Kansas flag present.

Does he believe that he's a Federal man or does he even know the difference?

Given that Elk County is a lawful political subdivision of the state of Kansas, that there is a mighty fine question.  Perhaps one of the fine, patriotic employees of the county will ask the powers that be.

The powers that be in Elk County are subservient to the Federals,
and the big dogs.  That way they only fly the US flag and recite
the Pledge of Allegiance and they've done their ceremonial duty
until the next time.
