Last night, the Farm Bureau sponsored a candidate 'debate' at the Cox Building in Howard.  After Randy Julian suggested that ditches were the most important thing we need on our county roads, Commissioner Hendricks rebutted & exhibited her road building expertise when she suggested (paraphrasing), "If we just put crowns on the roads, the water will run off and make ditches.".  Yep, commissioner, we used to call that 'uncontrolled erosion".  Of course, either option (building crowns and not cutting ditches where we want them or just cutting good ditches) would save us a bunch of money in grader time and/or rock hauling expenses!  Talk about thoughtful, coherent planning.

Perhaps Micky Wunderlich had a more intelligent approach:  Have the county commissioners stop micro-managing the road department... spend the money necessary to do the job right the first time, and let the road department do their jobs without daily interference & direction by individual commissioners who fancy themselves Master Roadbuilders.

Well, the audio recording heard it too, so I don't know what to tell ya. Why do you want to make this about me?  When I hear complaints at the cafe about an elected official, I don't hear a chorus of folks tell the one complaining to 'run for office'.  I suspect most see the complaint as an exercise of the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.  It appears your personal interests in this thing are showing again, no?

I still say that Wunderlich has one really good idea: get two of our commissioners who think they are entitled to management & supervisory powers apart from the commission to set policy as a complete board and then get out of the way.  We've already seen Mr. Liebau admit to such grossly inappropriate management with respect to dead trees at the courthouse, and I  suspect there are more such cases.  

If the board members, individually, are so good at building, fixing & maintaining roads, maybe they should resign their positions and apply for jobs on the road department.

I couldnt make it last night so I dont know what was said for sure ,but one think I do know is when Lackey  frist started he had me and Todd cut from middle of the roads to build up side of roads ,that why we dont have crowns now.I bitched about that so was let go ,went to the commissioner meeting  was told they were out of money,so had to lay people off ,but hired a new man day before.bring you back in the spring ,been waiting 3 years or more .What make me mad they hire people out of the county I know there are men and women here can do the job I keep putting my app. in sure it gets put in file 13 AKA trash can.Thats just part crap that goes on in road dept.

You assume much.  I don't "have it in" for Hendricks, or anyone else.  I am, however, a voter & taxpayer here and have an expectation of good management (according to generally accepted principles) of this county by elected officials.  If that seems unreasonable to you, then so be it.  Since I'm not an elected official, perhaps the question should be why do you (and some of your cyber chums) have it in for me?

There's a fine line between arrogance & confidence.  It's sad you don't understand the difference.  I'll avoid the your bait to engage in name calling, however.

I have no cyber chums and I do not have it in for you. I know the difference between arrogance and confidience, that is why you seem arrogant. As I have stated before my interest in the county is as a taxpayer. You always state negative things about the commissioners and never any thing positive, that is a put down for the county. As I have stated before I think all the commissioners do well and work hard for all of the people in the county.

Always and never are pretty strong statements.  Perhaps you should search my postings in re commission meetings where I have lauded all members of the commission for wise, conservative decisions.  If they take more foolish, anti constitutional actions than the opposite, that's not my fault.  If two of the three are more socialist leaning, then it is what it is.  Karl Marx & B. Obama have also been described as 'doing well' & 'working hard' for all of the people they claimed to represent, as well.  The real world outcomes of their efforts, however, left a lot to be desired.  As will the 'progressive' leanings of our current county commission, IMO.

'Seeming' & 'being' (as a statement of fact) are two different things.  Thanks for softening your view.  If 'seeming' is your real view, then let's reason together to see if it's really arrogance or confidence that you are observing.

I have known all 3 commissioners and their families for numerous years and any taxpayer has financial interest.  I am quite sure it is arrogance.
