Reba Fern Kent Spunaugle was born to Cecil and Nellie Kent on August 15, 1924 on the farm near Piedmont, Kansas.

Reba grew up in Piedmont, Kansas and graduated from high school there. She told stories about riding to school with her brother, Leo, on a horse, and in high school, she boarded with a town family in the winter so she could go to school.
In May 1943, she boarded a train in Kansas and rode it to Nipoma, California where she married Jack Spunaugle on May 22, 1943. Jack was in the Army and was stationed there. Jack and Reba later made their home in Wichita, Kansas.  During their 55 years of marriage, they lived in Wichita, Kansas,  Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Wann, Oklahoma.  They had one son, Robert.

After Jack's death, Reba changed her tax office in Copan, Oklahoma into a nice apartment and moved there.   She had many interests.  She loved spending time with her extended family. Her brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Pat, had six children, and Reba considered them to be hers, also. She was so proud of them and loved to keep updated on all their activities. Terry has shared many memories of family times—summer vacations at Grand Lake, holiday get-togethers with touch football, homemade ice cream, fireworks, and many card games. Fishing, swimming, and water skiing at the lake were summer pastimes. Terry also remembers playing outside until after dark; then coming in so the mothers could check the kids for ticks before bedtime. Terry said that Reba was a wonderful aunt and the times spent together are very fond memories for all the nieces and nephews.

When Bob married Karen, Reba considered that she then had a daughter. No one could have asked for a better mother-in-law. She immediately gathered Karen into the fold, and Reba had one more person in her family to brag about, and she did that often.
Reba and Jack began to make and sell crafts. Reba would get an idea, show it to Jack, and he would make it. Then she would add the finishing touches. Reba also did tax returns for many years. She loved her flowers, loved going to their place on Grand Lake, and having company. She was an excellent cook.  When Reba moved into Green Country Care Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she quickly became a favorite of the nurses and staff. Her smile would brighten the room. The staff always had great stories to tell and enjoyed working with her. Everyone knew "Miss Reba" as they called her.

Reba had a special cousin, Melba Nagler. Melba and her husband, Bob, and Reba had many adventures together including several trips to Oregon, North Dakota, and Branson, Missouri.  In the words of Reba's cousin, Melba-  "Reba was a special lady—caring, honest, generous, great sense of humor. We are thankful for the many times we shared together—joys and sorrows—the ups and downs of life. She loved the Lord, and we know she is now at home with Him, sharing with all the family that have gone before her. She will always hold a special place in our hearts."

Reba is survived by nieces, Terry McBreen and Gerry Heckman; nephews, Daryel and Ed Kent; and her cousin, Melba Nagler and her husband, Bob.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Spunaugle; her son, Bob Spunaugle; her parents, Cecil and Nellie Kent; her brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Pat Kent; her nephew, Fred; and her niece, Glenda.

Reba's husband, Jack, was a brother to Bob Spunaugle that had Pat and Bob's Cafe at the Severy junction. Jack and Bob were sons of Clarence "Peggy" Spunaugle who was the janitor at the Howard Schools for many years. Peggy liked children and  always had time to talk to us at school.
