GRENOLA- Samuel LeRoy Hull, 62, of Grenola, died May 22, 2006, at William Newton Hospital.

Cremation has taken place.  Services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements were made by Zimmerman Funeral Home in Howard.

Hull was born July 29, 1943, in Portland, Ore., to Miles Jake and Zurita Bernice (Nail) Hull.  He lived his early years in the Portland area and attended David Douglas High School.

Hull married at an early age, and to this union was born a son, Samuel, Jr. and two daughters, Mary and Terri. The marriage later ended.

Hull entered the U. S. Navy on Aug. 31, 1960, and served until honorably discharged on June 22, 1964.  He worked as an auto mechanic in Portland before moving to Tennessee in 1968.  He was employed as a homebuilder during most of his life.

On Oct. 11, 1968, Hull married Mary Juanita Crawford at Goodlettsville, Tenn.  They made their home in Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky and Oregon before moving to Grenola in 1995.  He served as mayor of Grenola until developing health problems.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hull, of the home; a son, Samuel L. Hull, Jr., Hays; two daughters, Mary Hull, LaHabra, Calif., and Terri Rice, Salpulpa, Okla., a stepson, Grant Wayne Brown, Goodlettsville; a sister, Sandra Walsh, Grenola, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
