Vincent William Caster, age 73, a resident of Fall River, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas with his family by his side.  He was born on August 15, 1939 in Decatur County, Kansas, the son of Myron and Rose Anneta (Gilbert) Caster.

Vincent graduated from Oberlin, Kansas High School in 1957 and attended Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.  Throughout his life he was a photographer for the Grand Island Independent, worked as a carpenter and concrete contractor, and retired from Rocky Mountain Resorts in Steamboat, Colorado.  He was  member of Lions Club, NRA, and Boy Scouts, serving as a leader for many years.

Vincent enjoyed photography, reading (especially westerns), geocaching, the Denver Broncos, and NASCAR.  He will be remembered for his infectious laugh and sense of humor.  He could recite a different limerick for every day of the year, loved telling jokes, and was famous for his sarcastic sayings.  He ended nearly every visit with "Glad you got to see me."

On July 14, 1963, he married Shirley Ann Budnick in Hampton, Nebraska.  Vincent was united in marriage to Joann Johnson in Craig, Colorado on December 21, 1973, and she survives at their home  He is also survived by two daughters, Denise Eickbush and fiance, Joe Varrientos of Wichita, Kansas and Nancy (Colby) Nobles of Fall River, Kansas; one son, Cecil (Brandi) Caster of Olympia, Washington; grandchildren, Devin Halsey, Denae and Ryan Eickbush, Daphnie and Austin Caster, and a granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Alvin Caster of Vinton, Louisiana and Dallas Caster of Auburn, Kansas; and four sisters, Berdeene Lawrence of Fredonia, Kansas, Lois Bare of Mitchell, Nebraska, and Donna Driewer and Linda Senff, both of Hampton, Nebraska.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Keith; and sisters, Lola King and Ina Lowe.

Cremation has taken place, and a family memorial service will be held at Evergreen Recreation Center, 2700 N. Woodlawn, Wichita, Kansas on November 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.  Family suggests contributions be made to the Vincent Caster Memorial Fund and may be left with the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.countrysidefh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of Countryside-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 206 E.
