William Preston was born in Ohio, Oct. 1, 1840 and died at the home of his daughter, Miss Mary Sittle at Orrick, Mo., Nov. 15, 1911, at the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 14 days.

He was married April 2, 1865 to Adelia Parrin.  To this union were born eight children of which two only survive him.  Fred D.  Preston of Howard, Kansas and Mrs. Settle of Orrick, Mo.  The mother having departed this life Feb. 8, 1901.  He has made his home with his daughter for the past six years.  While yet young he and his wife confessed Christ and were baptized.  He told his son when he made his last visit, that he had no fear of death and was ready to go when called.

The remains were brought to Howard last Friday and funeral services were held at the Paw Paw Baptist church Saturday afternoon by Rev. D. Bolin assisted by Rev. M. A. Follett.

Interment in Cresco cemetery.
