Janis was my best friend all through school, and I think they just called it "The Dairy Bar", or Harrod's Dairy Bar.

Just wonderin, were these drive ins, dairy bars, some kind of chain store ? Most all the small towns had one, usually with the ice cream cone sign. The last time I was in Garden Plain, theirs was relatively unchanged.

Marcia,

Do you have a photo of Slim's Barbershop or Gray's Barbershop in Severy that you can post?

Asmar "Slim" Gray left his partnership with Waldo Gray in Howard and opened a shop in Severy. I was in there at one time that I know of but cannot recall what it looked like or where it was at although think it was on Greenwood. I am assuming the shop was torn down at some point.

Also, do you have a photo of the western town created for the Jeff Bridges movie "Bad Company" that was filmed in Severy? It seems the town left the back drops up for several years until taking them down. The bank was Union Army headquarters during the Civil War, I think.

I dont know how long the Gray barbershop was in Severy but it probably was not for very long.

Wilma

It wasn't there very long.  It was located in the building just north of the grocery store.

While we are at it, has there been any use made of the old but newest Knight lumber building?
