What you probably don't know about Egypt:

Importance Of Egypt To U.S. Military Preparedness

(In Obamaland, everything is fantasy and a political PR game, but to others, the shape and the effectiveness of the U.S. military to respond actually matters)

WASHINGTON — The U.S. military is heavily dependent on Egypt to move personnel and equipment to Afghanistan and around volatile parts of the Middle East, complicating U.S. efforts to place pressure on the Egyptian military in the wake of its violent crackdown on protesters.

"Egypt has been a cornerstone for the U.S. military presence in the Middle East," said James Phillips, an analyst at the Heritage Foundation.

During the past year, more than 2,000 U.S. military aircraft flew through Egyptian airspace, supporting missions in Afghanistan and throughout the Middle East, according to U.S. Central Command, which is responsible for the region.

Egyptian Democratic Coalition Responds to Obama
Friday, 16 Aug 2013 05:01 PM

The National Salvation Front, a coalition of pro-democratic and secular parties in Egypt, set out its objections to remarks made by President Barack Obama Thursday on the escalating violence in Egypt.

Led by Ahmed Said of the Free Egyptians Party, the group issued the following letter:

"Like most Egyptians, we listened with attention to your statement on Egypt's latest developments. As representatives of the non-Islamic political forces in Egypt, we believe in the same fundamental values on which the U.S. was founded. Be we also have 7,000 years of civilization and history that give us a special identity that we are fighting to keep since the Muslim Brotherhood came to power.

"Let us first inform you about who the Muslim brothers are: They're an unlawful organization operating outside the realm of Egyptian law, receiving foreign funding and laundering money in a flagrant breech of international law. Their aim is to rule the world through a so-called Islamic Caliphate as they believe in their absolute supremacy.

"They pretend they are God's emissaries and they will not rest until they have forced the whole world into submission. For them, Egypt is the launching pad to achieve their fascist dream. Their international reach spans the globe and they command the hearts and minds of many unsuspecting politicians. They have used deceit, soft speeches, international funds and whenever required, violence,  to impose their will.

"The rule of (deposed President Mohammed) Morsi showed how in less than a year they abused the people, reneged on their promises and overturned the rule of law by issuing constitutional diktats monopolizing the judiciary as well as the legislative arms of the state. This was enough to impeach any president in a democratic nation. Unfortunately, Egyptians couldn't refer to their Supreme Sourt as it was besieged by thugs for over 60 days back in November of 2012.

"So finally, Egyptians took to the streets and this century's second Egyptian 'peaceful unarmed' revolution took place in June 2013 to recall the president and reject the rule of the Brotherhood. Egyptians deposed their president not because he was not inclusive, as you so kindly represented, but because he broke his constitutional oath and became another dictator reminiscent of the previous dictator this same great people of Egypt removed in January 2011. This was the will of the people that the West is now trying to bend pretending they are doing so in the name of democracy with no intention of interfering in Egyptian affairs!

"Now, I would like to address a few points in your address:

"Despite the perception, well-intentioned or ill-intentioned, history will tell of a Western media consistently portraying only one side — the Islamist's. We have to let you know some facts and some truth.

"Since July 3, 2013, the day deposed President Morsi was ousted by popular demand of millions of Egyptians, the Western media and prominent emissaries from the U.S. and Europe have consistently described the sit-ins that paralyzed a large part of Cairo as 'peaceful demonstrations.' They chose to ignore what was happening across Egypt from torching churches and killing randomly and destroying private and public properties.

"Mr. President, peaceful demonstrators do not have the capacity to kill more than 50 police personnel in just a few hours.

"Peaceful demonstrators do not attack a police station with RPG and kill the police chief and his deputies, strip them of their clothes and drag their naked bodies down the street.

"Peaceful demonstrators do not threaten Christians with genocide as many of the Muslim Brotherhood declared in hate speeches from the sit-in stage. Peaceful demonstrators do not raise the black flags of al-Qaida while marching with pictures of bin Laden and al Zawahri on their chests.

"While the Western media was focusing yesterday on the clearing of the sit-ins, more than 45 attacks were made on Christian installations across Egypt, resulting in the torching of 19 churches and cathedrals, some built in the 6th Century.

"The list goes on, but your intelligence reports will enlighten you, we are sure. The attached video here will also give you an idea.

"Mr. President, it is important that you see reality, especially that the great American people have themselves suffered from the darkness of Islamists and unfortunately thousands of great Americans died from their terror.

"The Muslim Brotherhood and their jihadist allies have never known and will never know peace. It might be useful to remind you that these same people had a three-week sit-in that started on the next dawn after election day and lasted almost two weeks to declare that they will burn Egypt if their candidate is not declared the winner.
"Mr. President, we are on the side of freedom, we are on the side of human rights. We are on the side of justice for all. We also hurt to see mothers mourn their children and children mourn their parents. Have you seen, Mr. President, the video clip of the Muslim Brotherhood supporter throwing 14-year-old children off the roof of a six-floor building? One mother died of sorrow when she saw the video clip of her son thrown off the building. She did not have time to mourn.

"Today Mr. President, you chose to consider one side of the picture and to punish the Egyptians by cancelling Operation Bright Star. Well Mr. President, Operation Bright Star means nothing to most Egyptians, but it is the misunderstanding and misleading of the American people that we care most about. Egyptians have always stood by the American people when attacked by terrorists because we are freedom lovers and individual liberty champions like the American people. The only difference is that we have always been deprived of these great principles and rights.

"Is it too much for Egyptians today to have the support of the American people during our own war on terror? How can the same group be named terrorists in the U.S.A. and peaceful demonstrators in Egypt?
"How can these be the ones the U.S.A. will never negotiate with while the U.S. government demands that Egyptians not only negotiate with them but also partner with them in the building of modern Egypt?

"Mr. President, the interest of peace in the region is served best by truly peace-loving people and democratic values.

"Finally, Mr. President, we hope that this letter will get your attention for, after all, we are now representing the majority. Our present government represents us, the secular, civil and liberal political forces. We hope that you will find it of value to probe more and investigate more and ask more. When you do, we are ready to come to you in a small delegation and discuss and explain more. We are sure that you will realize that, after all, Egyptians are indeed a great people deserving a great future."

I do, I do...

Bad news for our 'Muslim' president
Exclusive: Larry Klayman praises
Egyptian military for crackdown on Islamists

Finally, there is good news in the Middle East. The Egyptian military, having removed the Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi after he and his terrorist group hijacked the democratic process, is now in the act of systematically destroying this Islamic cancer on the Arab state's secular body politic. But the good news for Egypt and by extension Israel, its Jewish neighbor, is bad news for Barack Hussein Obama, our so-called "Muslim president."

In a statement issued yesterday from the stronghold of the left, Martha's Vineyard, where the "mullah in chief" is vacationing on our dime, Obama bellowed, "The United States strongly condemns the steps taken by the Egyptian interim government and security forces."

In so doing, Obama also canceled yearly and crucial national security joint defense exercises with the Egyptian military. This is an outrage; for once strong action is taken to snuff out the Muslim Brotherhood, the granddaddy of all Islamic terrorist groups and the parent that houses al-Qaida, and our president condemns it, leaving no doubt where his loyalties lie – not that we needed any further proof after five years of his bowing down to Saudi kings, endorsing the Ground Zero Mosque, disrespecting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, doing all he can to harm Israel and a host of other anti-Semitic and anti-Christian actions by him and his administration. But this condemnation is the pinnacle of his pro-Muslim efforts to aid the Islamic revolution at the expense of Jews and Christians and our national security interests in the Middle East and worldwide.

Obama's decidedly pro-Islamic policies are regrettably not limited to the fate of Egypt or Israel, for that matter. They have also crept into the way our nation has been and is fighting wars in the Middle East, most notably in Afghanistan. There, the overriding modus operandi of our military operations is not to win the war by killing as many Muslim jihadists as is necessary to clean out this Islamic terrorist rat hole run by the Taliban, but to "win the hearts and minds" of the enemy. Indeed, the military's rules of engagement for our servicemen so state, with even the inexplicably revered Gen. David Petraeus having written this to all the Armed Forces.

These rules of engagement, which are consistent with Obama's policies toward the Muslim world, are why our fighting men and women are dying and being maimed at alarmingly increasing per capita rates in Afghanistan and elsewhere.

By way of stark example, these rules of engagement, and the paranoiac deference paid to Muslims in battle, contributed greatly to the death of 30 U.S. servicemen, including 22 Navy SEALs and other special ops forces in the shoot down by the Taliban of a Chinook helicopter in Afghanistan shortly after Osama bin Laden was killed by SEAL Team VI. Prevented from engaging in pre-assault fire in particular, the 22 special ops who died on Aug. 6, 2011, were sitting ducks for the Taliban, who wanted badly to have a SEAL Team VI Judeo-Christian trophy in retaliation for the killing of their leader, Osama bin Laden. And, sure enough, they got it – likely handed to them on a silver platter by our own "leader," whose administration not only revealed that SEAL Team VI had been the special ops who took out bin Laden to boost Obama's re-election prospects in the fall of 2012, but also failed to take preventive steps to safeguard these heroes from terrorist retaliation after this target was placed on their backs. This matter is currently under a congressional inquiry by the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee, as well as my efforts on behalf of SEALs and other special ops surviving family members to obtain all of the facts leading up to and which caused this tragedy.

But the sad moral to this and other stories of their kind is that Obama and his pro-Muslim administration's coddling of Islamic interests is not only an affront to the Egyptian people and Israel, whose security forces have been working hand in hand with the Egyptian military after the ouster of Morsi, but to our own fighting men and women.

The hard reality is that our nation, not just Egypt pre-Morsi, has been hijacked by Islam and our president is the leader of this Muslim revolution. It is no wonder Muslims have just in the last few days felt emboldened to declare that they will wage a "Million Man Muslim March" in Washington, D.C., this Sept. 11. They have been given a virtual green light to do so by the mullah in chief. And, even if he does not show his devilish face at this highly provocative demonstration of the growing Islamic influence in the United States and abroad, Obama will be there with his fellow Muslims in spirit.

Perhaps Obama fears what the Egyptian military has done to Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood because he knows that the American people and its military, who have been sacrificed to "win the hearts and minds" of the enemy, may one day rise up and oust him and his comrades. One can only pray – not to Allah, but to our Lord and Savior – that justice will be done and that We the People will soon be liberated from this modern-day pharaoh. While Obama's political opposition is no Moses, we hold our own future in our hands and must act soon before all is lost.

Email encryption services suddenly close over U.S. snooping

By Shaun Waterman
The Washington Times
Sunday, August 18, 2013

In amassing data about every American's communications, U.S. intelligence agencies are not only making many uneasy about their privacy, but also are endangering the nation's leadership in innovation and security in communications technology.

Analysts, technology executives and former officials spoke about the recent decisions by two U.S.-based providers of encrypted email to shutter their services in response to actual or anticipated legal demands to surrender customer data.

"Other companies offering these services are starting to move offshore outside the reach of whatever is going on" in the United States, said Howard A. Schmidt, former White House cyberczar.

Indeed, operating a secure email service in the United States no longer may be an option, said law professor Fred H. Cate, director of Indiana University's Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research.

"If you mean by 'secure' a system to which the U.S. government cannot get access, it is beginning to look as if that might not be possible," said Mr. Cate, who specializes in privacy, security and other information law issues.

Lavabit, the free encrypted email service used by National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden, closed suddenly this month. Its founder said in a note on the company website that he took the drastic action to avoid being "complicit in crimes against the American people."

In his note, Ladar Levison said the U.S. government had gagged him from explaining what had happened and why he felt compelled to close his Texas-based business. "I wish that I could legally share with you the events that led to my decision. I cannot," he wrote.

Hours after Lavabit's announcement, a Maryland-based company that offers encrypted communication services — SilentCircle — announced that it, too, was shuttering its email service and destroying all of its customers' email archives.

SilentCircle CEO Mike Janke said the move was to pre-empt legal demands from Washington that the company turn over the "keys" to its customers' encrypted emails and archived data stored on company servers.

"We saw the writing on the wall," Mr. Janke said.

Encryption scrambles digital data by manipulating it according to a complex formula or algorithm, called a key. With the key, the data can be unscrambled. Without it, the information remains a mass of meaningless numbers.

The Patriot Act

Mr. Janke said SilentCircle needed to destroy its archives without notice because the company's email servers had become "a treasure box" of data about its customers, which include several heads of state, some U.S. and allied special operations forces units, and 16 of the world's largest companies.

"If we had given notice, it would have been like saying: 'You've got 12 hours to serve us [a subpoena].' I bet we would have got a national security letter within 30 minutes," he said.

National security letters are administrative subpoenas issued by the FBI without any judicial review. They require companies to produce a broad range of business records "relevant" to a terrorism or counterintelligence investigation.

There is more.

Lie Of The Day

"Obuma: There er... aaa.. is no Spying on Americans"

Via The Hill:

The White House said Monday that President Obama stood by his remark to comedian Jay Leno that "there is no spying on Americans," despite a report in The Washington Post last week revealing that the National Security Agency violated its own privacy rules on thousands of occasions.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that the story, based on an internal audit obtained by former Defense contractor Edward Snowden, in fact revealed "there is in place at the NSA a very strict oversight regime."

He also said the president was "not opposed to additional measures that members of Congress think would be helpful in inspiring greater public confidence in these programs."

The Post's story revealed that, on thousands of occasions since Congress granted the NSA broad new surveillance powers, employees at the agency violated federal statute and executive orders to conduct unauthorized surveillance of Americans or foreign intelligence targets who had traveled to the United States.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The [crooked Obuma] U.S. State Department voiced deep concern on Monday about the deaths of Muslim Brotherhood prisoners while in custody in Egypt and made clear that it does not believe that the Islamist group should be banned.

"We are also deeply troubled by the suspicious deaths of Muslim Brotherhood prisoners in a purported prison escape attempt near Cairo," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters, referring to some 38 Muslim Brotherhood supporters who died in disputed circumstances at a prison on Sunday.
