Key commander to be questioned on Benghazi goes MISSING!

During the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, Marine Corps Col. George Bristol was in a key position in the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) chain of command, Sharyl Attikisson at CBS News reports. While it would be expected he could provide answers to questions about that night Congress has been pursuing, no one seems to know where he is – or isn't telling.

"They say he's retired and they can't reach out to him," Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, told CBS News. "That's hogwash."

Pentagon spokesman Major Robert Firman told CBS News that the Department of Defense has been forthcoming about all matters related to Benghazi, and that they "cannot compel retired members to testify before Congress."

Firman also issued somewhat of a challenge, adding "any congressional committee can call the witnesses it needs" through subpoena, if necessary.

On June 26, the House Armed Services Committee in a closed hearing questioned Bristol's former superiors: commander of Special Operations Command Africa Rear Adm. Brian Losey and former AFRICOM commander Gen. Carter Ham, who happens to be retired.

The Defense Department defended the appearance of Ham by saying he was not yet officially retired at the time.

"We will end up talking to [Bristol] at some point," Chaffetz said. "He had a very important role and we want to talk to him about it...All this raises concern when there's so much resistance to letting us speak with him."

Chaffetz noted that the Defense Department was more responsive on Benghazi than other federal agencies, but helping to locate Bristol was one area that was lacking.

Heritage Foundation lists top 10 problems
with Senate immigration bill

With a Senate immigration-reform bill set for a test vote Monday afternoon – a vote that could end debate on the bill before it comes to a final vote on Thursday – the Heritage Foundation on Monday released a list of 10 major problems it has with the measure.

The Heritage Immigration and Border Security Reform Task Force produced a handy infographic here.  For a more detailed presentation, see the Heritage Foundation's background paper here.

The top 10 Heritage Foundation problems with Senate Bill 744:

1.       Amnesty: Granting what Heritage calls "amnesty" to 11.5 million illegal immigrants will encourage more law-breaking in the future.

2.       Security: Border security "triggers" authorize billions in spending with no guarantees of actual security improvements.

3.       Cost: Unlawful immigrants consume more in tax dollars than they contribute, through the use of public education, medical systems and other social services.

4.       Entitlements: Putting millions more on social service rolls will worsen the country's entitlement-spending crisis.

5.       Expanding bureaucracy: Administering those services will mean more government "offices, task forces and commissions." More of the kind of big-government liberals love.

6.       Ambiguous powers: In the bill, Congress grants "unprecedented discretionary and regulatory powers over immigration to the Department of Homeland Security."

7.       Unfairness: There are 4 million in line for citizenship who are playing by the rules that would not be helped by the bill.

8.       Federalism: While immigration is a federal matter, states have a vital interest in who is coming into them and how. "The bill provides no clear proposal for partnerships between the federal and state or local governments."

9.       Special interests: At more than 1,000 pages, the bill is full of pork and special deals included to buy lawmakers' votes. It is "an easy vehicle for hiding special-interest provisions that benefit a few people while ignoring the rest."

10.   Assimilation: The bill fosters greater dependence on government because it discontinues the current emphasis on assimilating immigrants through "instruction in the culture, history, and language of the United States through community and faith-based organizations."

Tweets 'threatening' Obama will lead to prison time

July 3, 2013 by Joe Saunders

Feeling angry enough to want to kill somebody?
Impulsive enough to want to say it on Twitter?

It better not be the president of the United States, or you might end up spending time behind bars just for hitting "Tweet." Those 140 characters – sent in a state of less than total sobriety – translated into a year in federal prison for one man, and he's not alone.

A New York Times report Wednesday, "140 Characters Spell Charges and Jail," chronicled two men sentenced to prison and a third on probation for tweeting "threats" against the president. That's if you consider something like, "Let's Go Kill the President" "I think we could get the president with cyanide! #MakeItSlow" a real threat. Or if you think "Ima assassinate president Obama this evening!" a plan for the night.

The Secret Service did.

The sentences so far: One man got a year federal time; one six months; the third got three years' probation.

In a way, there's nothing new about this. According to The Times report, threatening the president or anyone under Secret Service protection carries a punishment of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine, regardless of whether the threat was going to be carried out.

But that law was written in an era where it actually took some effort to make even an empty threat more public than the next bar stool – like taking the trouble to write a letter – and that might make sense, with discretion. But when just about anybody can broadcast their thoughts to literally millions with hardly a seconds' thought or intent, it borders on Orwellian. (And that's even without the National Security Agency tapping in on everything we do with our phones.)

And something else that makes the story especially interesting is the treatment The Times gave it: Page 14A of the national edition.

Both men sentenced to prison are black — a fact that goes unmentioned in the Times story, though a picture makes it clear in one case. (The third man is apparently Hispanic.)

Does anyone doubt The Times would have treated a story about two white men sentenced to prison for making the same empty Twitter "threats" about President Obama as part of a rising surge of violent racism sweeping the country? Probably on Page 1?

Does anyone doubt that a story about two black men sentenced to prison for making empty Twitter threats about a President Bush or a President Mitt Romney would be treated as another example of the justice system's "war against black men?" Again on Page 1?

The Times, they are't a- changin'.

The religion of peace piece's strikes again

POTISKUM, Nigeria (AP) — Islamic militants attacked a boarding school in northeast Nigeria before dawn Saturday, killing 29 students and one teacher. Some of the pupils were burned alive in the latest school attack blamed on a radical terror group, survivors said.

Parents screamed in anguish as they tried to identify the charred and gunshot victims.

Farmer Malam Abdullahi found the bodies of two of his sons, a 10-year-old shot in the back as he apparently tried to run away, and a 12-year-old shot in the chest.

"That's it, I'm taking my other boys out of school," he told The Associated Press as he wept over the two corpses. He said he had three younger children in a nearby school.

"It's not safe," he said. "The gunmen are attacking schools and there is no protection for students despite all the soldiers."

Survivors at the Potiskum General Hospital and its mortuary said gunmen attacked Government Secondary School in Mamudo village, 5 kilometers (3 miles) from Potiskum town at about 3 a.m. Saturday. The gunmen are believed to be from the Boko Haram sect whose name means "Western education is sacrilege."

They killed 29 students and an English teacher Mohammed Musa, who was shot in the chest according to another teacher, Ibrahim Abdu.

"We were sleeping when we heard gunshots. When I woke up, someone was pointing a gun at me," said 15-year-old Musa Hassan.

He put his arm up in defense, and suffered a gunshot that blew off all four fingers on his right hand, the one he uses to write with.

He said the gunmen came armed with jerry cans of fuel that they used to torch the school's administrative block and one of the hostels.

"They burned the children alive," he said, the horror showing in his wide eyes.

He and teachers at the morgue said dozens of children from the 1,200-student school escaped into the bush but have not been seen since.

Some bodies are so charred they could not be identified, so many parents do not know if their children survived or died.

Islamic militants from Boko Haram and breakaway groups have killed more than 1,600 civilians in suicide bombings and other attacks since 2010, according to an Associated Press count.

Scores of schools have been burned down in the past year in northeast Nigeria.

President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency May 14, and deployed thousands of troops to halt the insurgency, acknowledging that militants had taken control of some towns and villages.

The military has claimed success in regaining control of the area — the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe . However, the area covers some 155,000 square kilometers (60,000 square miles) or one-sixth of the sprawling country.

Soldiers say they have killed and arrested hundreds of fighters.

But the crackdown, including attacks with fighter jets and helicopter gunships on militant camps, appears to have driven the extremists into rocky mountains with caves, from which they emerge to attack schools and markets.

The militants have increasingly targeted civilians, including health workers on vaccination campaigns, teachers and government workers.

Farmers have been driven from their land by the extremists and by military roadblocks, raising the specter of a food shortage to add to the woes of a people already hampered by the military's shutdown of cell phone service and ban on using satellite telephones.

StL Cardinals Remove Christian Cross From Pitching Mound – It Was Offensive
Saturday, July 6, 2013, 5:05 PM

The St. Louis Cardinals organization removed the Christian symbols, including a cross, from the pitching mound this week, saying,"It was offensive."

The local far left Riverfront Times started complaining about this weeks ago:http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2013/06/busch_stadium_cardinals_christian_symbols.php

StL Today reported:
There were no decorations to the Busch Stadium pitching mound Friday night for the start of a five-game home stand.

In recent weeks, the grounds crew had carved a cross and a No. 6 (in honor of the late Stan Musial) on the back side of the mound. But general manager John Mozeliak, who said he first had learned about the practice from a Post-Dispatch report and photo, said Friday night that he had asked that the practice cease.

"Once we learned of it," said Mozeliak, "I did contact the grounds crew and just asked that they don't.

"It's just not club policy to be putting religious symbols on the playing field or throughout the ballpark. I didn't ask for the reason behind it. I just asked for it to stop."

Islamists Murder 29 Students in Nigeria –
Burn Them Alive

(Islam: A Peaceful Piece-ful Religion)

Islamists murdered 29 students and one teacher in northern Nigeria. Survivors say some children were burned alive as the attackers set fire to buildings and shot pupils as they tried to run away.
Al Ahram reported:

Islamic extremists have killed 29 students and one teacher in an attack on a boarding school in northeast Nigeria.

Survivors being treated for burn and gunshots wounds say some students were burned alive in the attack before dawn Saturday on Government Secondary School in Mamudo town in Yobe state.

As he wept over the bodies of his two boys, farmer Malam Abdullahi swore he would withdraw three remaining sons from a nearby school.

He complained there was no protection for students despite the deployment of thousands of troops since the government declared a state of emergency mid-May in three northeastern states.

POS Barack Obama told Nigerian students this week "bad governance" is to blame for the Boko Haram Islamic terrorism.

(The Muslim Obuma a**holes called for the leadership in Egypt to include the Muslim Brotherhood in the political process)

[b/Bloomberg reported:[/b]
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-07-05/obama-call-for-muslim-brotherhood-role-overtaken-in-egypt.html

The [Muslim Obuma a**holes] call for an "inclusive" political process in Egypt with a role for the Muslim Brotherhood has been overshadowed by deadly clashes between security forces and supporters of the Islamist group.

Violent protests yesterday in Cairo and elsewhere over the military's ouster of President Mohamed Mursi raised doubts about prospects for an eventual accommodation that would allow the Brotherhood that supports him to compete in new elections.

While [POS Muslim]President Barack Obama's administration has stopped short of condemning the July 3 military takeover, it has called on Egyptian leaders to pursue "a transparent political process that is inclusive of all parties and groups," including "avoiding any arbitrary arrests of Mursi and his supporters," Bernadette Meehan, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, said July 4 in a statement.

The administration has urged the Egyptian military to stop using heavy-handed tactics, according to two U.S. officials who asked not to be identified commenting on private communications. They said the administration is concerned that some in the military may want to provoke the Islamists to violence and provide a rationale for crushing the movement once and for all.
