     I recieved a notice from Blue Cross Blue Shield that my contract is considered " grandfathered". This is evidently good and bad. Since I am grandfathered, my contract is not required to follow the new guidelines as to preventive healthcare. I can't understand why they wouldn't cover preventitive measures. Makes no sense. They do have to eliminate lifetime limits, on the other hand.

If you have a new health insurance plan or insurance policy beginning on or after September 23, 2010, the following preventive services must be covered without your having to pay a copayment or co-insurance or meet your deductible.
This applies only when these services are delivered by a network provider.

•Questions: If you have questions about whether these new provisions apply to your plan, contact your insurer or plan administrator.  If you still have questions, contact your state insurance department.

•Talk to your health care provider: To know which covered preventive services are right for you — based on your age, gender, and health status — ask your health care provider.

. . . According to the program's website, it is funded by the federal government and the Missouri National Guard Trust Fund.

Both the federal government and the state government are broke. So why are we providing military funeral honors for all veterans? It is a nice gesture we can't afford.

Certainly, men and women killed in combat deserve full military honors. It's a way for the country to say, "We honor the memory of those who died in our service." These military honors — and the thought behind them — are intended to provide some solace for the families of the fallen.

But what about the guy who spends a couple of years in the military and then gets on with his life? Bear in mind that most veterans did nothing heroic. They served, and that's laudable, but it hardly seems necessary to provide them all with military honors after they have died. In fact, it seems generous enough to provide veterans and their spouses with free space and headstones at a national cemetery.

Why not let the veterans organizations provide military honors at the funerals of their members? If a person gets out of the Marine Corps and wants to stay connected, he can join the Marine Corps League. I'm sure the 101st Airborne has an association. In a more general vein, we have the American Legion and the VFW.

Providing military honor funerals for their members would be a boon to these organizations. Membership would presumably climb, and veterans who want the military funerals could still get them.

Everybody knows government needs to cut costs.

This is exactly how you do it.

Atheists Want Vietnam War Memorial Cross Removed

A national atheist organization is demanding that an Oregon city remove its Vietnam War memorial because it includes a cross.

The Freedom From Religion Foundation accused city leaders in Coos Bay of violating the so-called separation of church and state after erecting the war memorial 41 years ago. The FFRF is an organization of freethinkers, atheists and agnostics.

"We have no objection to the veterans' memorials," FFRF attorney Rebecca Markert wrote to City Manager Rodger Craddock. "Our objection is to the message of endorsement of Christianity over other religions and non-religions."

The FFRF said the city had violated the law by allowing the cross to be displayed on public property.


I have never understood an atheist... if they don't believe, then what the hell does it matter what anyone else does....?  They are first and foremost progressive socialists.  They use the atheist angle only as a ploy to further degrade our society as they try to remove our Judeo-Christian heritage from the public eye and eventually, they hope, from our very lives.  Religion is what holds a culture together.  They don't want us to have our God, our values, our morals, our ethics.  A Godless society is more susceptible to worshipping the state and accepting socialism as their religion.

The unhinged rant below is tough to wrap my head around — it reads more like the adolescent garbage posted by bile-spewing miscreants on YouTube or on Twitter.

But here it is in all its inglorious castigation, from a Democrat lawmaker in Alabama.

State Rep. Joe Mitchell, D-Mobile, had an outlandish exchange via email with a Jefferson County man who asked him and other lawmakers not to pass any laws that would restrict gun ownership.

Eddie Maxwell sent a mass email to state legislators at 10:54 p.m. on Jan. 27, warning them that even attempting to introduce a gun control bill was, in his opinion, a violation of state law.

Mitchell responded from his public, ALHouse.gov email account at 11:59 p.m., telling Maxwell: "Your folk never used all this sheit (sic) to protect my folk from your slave-holding, murdering, adulterous, baby-raping, incestuous, snaggle-toothed, backward-a**ed, inbreed (sic), imported criminal-minded kin folk."

"That's not the type of reply I expect to receive from a state legislator," Maxwell replied on Feb. 11. "I'm not a racist and I find your reply to be especially offensive considering the position you hold."

Copies of the email exchange were provided to AL.com by state lawmakers who were included in the correspondence. The emails are printed below, edited only to remove the specific addresses.

Mitchell, who is black, did not respond to email and telephone messages from AL.com seeking comment this week. He told the Associated Press today that he was explaining that citizens who descended from slaves and were disenfranchised by the state constitution have a different view of history and the constitution than white citizens.

Maxwell, who is white, verified that he wrote the messages sent from his email address and said he was "surprised at the racial tones" in Mitchell's responses.

He said the exchange was the first and only contact he's had with Mitchell, who has served in the state House since 1994.

"It just makes me more determined that we the people need to stay involved," Maxwell said in a telephone interview today. "It's up to us as citizens to watch our government."

It's important to note that Mitchell's historical accounting of gun control and race issues is dead-on wrong.

Granted, Republicans are far from being saints. But it was the Democrat party that started and populated the Ku Klux Klan, the Democrat party that fought to keep blacks from voting, and Democrats who resisted abolishing slavery in America. And gun control laws that prevented blacks from legally owning them were put into place by... yes, Democrats:

Gun control laws were originally promulgated by Democrats to keep guns out of the hands of blacks. This allowed the Democratic policy of slavery to proceed with fewer bumps and, after the Civil War, allowed the Democratic Ku Klux Klan to menace and murder black Americans with little resistance.

(Contrary to what illiterates believe, the KKK was an outgrowth of the Democratic Party, with overlapping membership rolls. The Klan was to the Democrats what the American Civil Liberties Union is today: Not every Democrat is an ACLU'er, but every ACLU'er is a Democrat. Same with the Klan.)

The kingdom's interior ministry announced the execution, stating that the man had murdered and sodomised another male. Both actions are punishable by death.

'The Yemeni citizen Mohammed Rashad Khairi Hussain killed a Pakistani, Pashteh Sayed Khan, after he committed sodomy with him,' said a statement carried by state news agency SPA.

Hussain was also convicted of robbery and carrying out a series of attacks.

The execution, in the southern city of Jizan, was followed by crucifixion, a punishment used by the ultra-conservative country for serious crimes.

Report: Al Nusra Front Being Supplied With Advanced Western Weapons

A Syrian rebel group the Obama administration considers a terrorist organization is managing to obtain modern anti-tank weapons meant for other groups fighting to oust President Bashar al-Assad, according to regional experts.

The Jihadist Jabhat al-Nusra militia is managing to secure weapons being supplied by Saudi Arabia and Qatar to rebel brigades affiliated to the Free Syrian Army, the experts say. The Obama administration considers al-Nusra a terrorist organization because of suspected links with al-Qaida.

The weapons include the Croatian-made M79 portable 90 mm anti-tank gun and M60 recoilless anti-tank weapons. Regional experts say Saudi Arabia and Qatar had been supplying such weapons to rebel units more acceptable to the West, mainly secular or nationalist-focused groups such as the Free Syrian Army (FSA) brigades fighting to oust the Assad government.

Croatian weaponry believed to be part of those airlifts had been seen being used earlier this year by other Jihadist groups fighting in Syria, but al-Nusra videos posted on the internet this weekend showed for the first time their fighters using the M79 and M60 antitank weapons.

"Neither of these weapons are locally available, either from the black market or looted from the Syrian army because they don't have them," said British-based weapons researcher, Eliot Higgins, who first spotted the videos. "That's what made them so easy to track; they stand out like sore thumbs in Syria."
