Kim Jong-un's ex-girlfriend reportedly executed by firing squad

The ex-girlfriend of North Korean leader Kim-Jong-un was one of a dozen people reportedly executed by a firing squad last week.
The South Korean newspaper Chosun Ilbo reports that singer Hyon Song-wol and 11 others had been arrested on August 17 for violating North Korea's laws against pornography and was executed three days later.

The paper reported that the condemned, all members of the performing groups Unhasu Orchestra and Wangjaesan Light Music Band, were accused of making videos of themselves having sex and selling the videos, which the paper reported were available in China.

"They were executed with machine guns while the key members of the Unhasu Orchestra, Wangjaesan Light Band and Moranbong Band as well as the families of the victims looked on," a source told the paper. The source added that the victim's families appear to have all been sent to prison camps.

Kim Jong-un reportedly met Hyon Song-wol approximately 10 years ago, before he was married. The relationship between the two is believed to have ended after interference from Kim's father, Kim Jong-il, though the two had been rumored to be having an affair. Kim Jong-un's wife, Ri Sol-ju, was also a member of the Unhasu Orchestra before their marriage. It is not clear if she had any role in the executions.

Is President Obama intentionally attempting to bring the stock market to its knees? Some argue that, indeed, he is. "The free market has failed," he could say, "just as it failed the housing market!"

Consider that, in the teeth of a devastating recession, Obama has:
• Raised taxes on small businesses, the engines of entrepreneurship and job growth

• Raised the capital gains tax

• Lied about "tax cuts for 95% of Americans", offering instead $13 a week, achieved not through tax cuts, but by changing the federal withholding tables!

• Destroyed charitable giving by axing the tax breaks for 26% of all giving (or $81 billion in 2006)

• Proposed a carbon cap-and-trading scheme designed to punish oil companies and further tax consumers

would Obama inflict these destructive policies while the economy is collapsing? Simple. Each step strengthens the role of government in people's lives.

• Squelching the stock market kills its attractiveness as a parking lot for private capital. Combined with an increase in the capital gains tax, investors will swarm to bonds -- tax-free vehicles like municipal bonds, which benefit the growth of state and local government. And unions, of course.

• Carbon cap-and-tax will raise taxes on all Americans as the cost of goods and services will increase to address a non-existent threat.

• True tax cuts would grow the economy, which is why, of course, Obama shuns them. The last major recession was Jimmy Carter's malaise. It consisted of of double-digit inflation and unemployment. It was finally licked by across-the-board tax cuts for everyone (even the despised rich), which touched off a twenty-plus year run of prosperity.

• Charities reduce the role of government assistance for those in need. That, in Obama's world, can not be tolerated. That is why charities must be choked off and allowed to die. Especially faith-based institutions.
The only plausible explanation is that Obama's destruction of the economy is intentional.

Itis based on a failed ideology that has a track record of Mugabe-esque disaster.

And I'm not the only one who thinks so. Jim Cramer is a long-time investor who's been around the block a few times. He thinks the Obama agenda is crystal clear, stating "...their agenda is destroying the life savings of millions of Americans... we've elected a Leninist."

Cramer went on to say that President Obama has caused "the greatest wealth destruction I have seen by a president."

So he's got that going for him.

Cramer calls it an "assault on the economy" by the President and his cohorts.

It is tragic-comic that both the President and Robert Gibbs have both stated that they will not comment on the day-to-day "fluctuations" of the stock market (despite that often they themselves cause those fluctuations - invariably downward. And "fluctuations" implies that the markets sometimes rise - rarely under this President), but if a radio or TV talking head like Rick Santelli or Rush Limbaugh says something that opposes Obama, both the president and Gibbs immediately, and often repeatedly, rise to the challenge.

So commenting on situations that adversely affect the jobs, investments, or retirements of millions of Americans is beneath them. Challenging dissent, however, is job one for this White House.

Urgent. The road to war with Syria, Russia, Iran and China can be tracked back to the Benghazi attack and cover-up.

A Freedom of Information Act Request (FOIA) provides more evidence that the Obama administration declined to activate available possible life-saving help in the September 11, 2012 Benghazi attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Tyrone Woods, Glen Doherty and Sean Smith –and thwarted the FBI investigation thereby aiding the perpetrators escape from justice. There were two U S Marine Corps response options that were never called in or deployed to Benghazi– Marine Corps Embassy Security Group / Marine Security Guard [MCESG/MSG] and Marine Fleet Antiterrorism Security Teams [FAST].

According to The information Paper obtained under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) states:

"The response time to any emergency is predicated by many factors such as time of day, advance notice or no-notice, current activities, and the locations of off-duty members of the detachments. The MSGs [Marine Security Guard] conduct a minimum of two no-notice drills per month, but most detachments conduct more drills than the minimum standard. The MSGs train to respond to protests, mass casualty/bombings, intruders, and fire and bomb threats/searches. This response training is conducted at all hours and usually will include the State Department Regional Security Officer (RSO) or his deputy as well as the MCESG detachment. In terms of FAST ... their alert posture is predicated on combatant commander requirements according to threat reporting and assessment. By order of the Secretary of Defense [then Leon Panetta], the dedicated EUCOM FAST Company supports commander US Africa Command for crisis response and contingency situations. An example of this is the FAST Platoon currently deployed as a crisis response force to the US Embassy, Tripoli – it was sourced from the EUCOM FAST Company (emphasis mine)."

Obuma and Terrorists – or is it Obama and the Sunni Muslims?

Robert Fisk points out that if Obama attacks Syrian leader Assad's army, the US and Al Qaeda would be on the same side.  However, Fisk incorrectly states that this would be the first time.  Not so.  In prior posts, Obama was on the same side as Al Qaeda in Libya when bombing Gaddafi and his forces.  Obama, also, sided with the terrorist organization, the Muslim Brotherhood, in Egypt, even providing them with $1.5 billion in aid, and then taking it away after they were overthrown.

Pundits have tried to figure out Obama's motives.  Some say Obama is driven by anti -colonialism like his father.  Obama's anti-colonialism makes sense, but doesn't address all of Obama's motives in the Middle East, or necessarily his attacks against Christians and Jews.  Others say that Obama is on the side of Islamists, which doesn't address his siding with one Islamist group (Al Qaeda) over another Islamist group, or Islamist group wannabe like Assad.  What does make sense is Obama's policy of always siding with the Muslim Sunni sect.

...Muslim Sunnis have been at odds with Muslim Shia's, and vice versa, for a long time.  Shia representatives Iran and Hezbollah support Assad.  Sunni representatives, including Al Qaeda, support the Islamic rebels and the Muslim Brotherhood.  Sunnis account for about 80% of the Muslim world.   When Obama moves, he moves not with Christians, Jews or the majority of most Americans, Obama moves with the Muslim Sunni sect.  The Sunni hatred of Shia's, Jews and Americans is what Obama's actions fit best.  In addition, an Iranian involvement in the attack on Benghazi, is consistent with this thinking, because the Shia's in Iran would not be happy with the US sending weapons to the Sunni rebels in Syria, who are the enemy of Assad and the Iranian Shia's.  The Iranian Shia's would want to stop weapons used in overthrowing Assad, while bringing to light the fact that Obama was shipping arms under the table to Syria in the first place.  Iran was hoping the poor press of the Benghazi affair would prevent Obama from being reelected.   Unfortunately for the Iranian Shia's, the Obama loving American media did not comply.

My View on this: (What's yours, Forum)

Ultimately, the best way to avoid this war is to call your Congressman and do whatever they can to to stop Obuma, up to and including impeachment.  Not much else is going to stop the Devils Clown.

The majority on the Left seem incapable of criticizing Obuma to any real degree, even as he is hell-bent on doing everything that made Bush such a terrible president.  And a significant chunk of the Right will back just about any war, especially one that can be branded as anti-terrorism or anti-Islam.  Given the reality of modern politics [which is nothing more than political tribalism], I don't really expect the bulk on the Left to try to do much here, especially given their general indifference towards or ignorance of the Constitution.  But I am supremely disappointed by those on the Right who also show that they don't really give a damn about the Constitution, at least when it gets them the war(s) they so crave.

So let me be clear: if you support Obuma's actions in Syria, you give up your right to ever posture like you think the Constitution matters.  That is the only question here.  It's not about chemical weapons.  It's not about Islam.  It's not about terrorism, or rogue states, or tyranny.  It's about the rule of law.  And if you support Obuma's taking us to war without the authority of Congress, you don't give a damn about the rule of law.  Period, the end.

5 possible risks of a U.S. military strike on Syria (USA Today)

1. Failure (Which is most likely)
The strike fails to deter dictator Bashar Assad from continuing his slaughter of civilians to put down a more than two-year rebellion. Such a flouting of President Obama could put pressure on the USA to ramp up military action given that it has crossed the line already into the use of U.S. military force.


2. Retaliation from Syria
Syria launches attacks on neighbor Israel to try and draw a response that would threaten to fragment the Middle East U.S allies that oppose Assad but do not want to be seen as supporting Israel - states such as Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates.


3. Iran emerges
Iran has threatened often to use its naval vessels to cut off the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow point in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Iran where 20% of the world's oil passes. The move would force the U.S. navy to respond with possible military attacks. Iran, a Shiite Muslim theocracy, can also spur large Shiite populations in friendly Arab states to rise up against their leaders.


4. Terrorists strike
Terrorist groups in the Middle East, such as Al Qaeda, Hamas and Hezbollah, launch attacks against U.S. targets in the region and U.S. allies.  Those targets can include bases such as the port for the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.


5. Russia gains
Russia, which under Vladimir Putin has increased repression at home and is steadily increasing its influence abroad, will become a major player in the Middle East by helping Syria survive the strike. That may strengthen the anti-American axis of Iran and Syria and lead to a further destabilization of a region of important strategic and economic value to Western nations.

Mr. Obama could still do nothing – as he has done for many months – but he now needs to do something positive in the face of his earlier threats.
The question is ... What should he do? I t is a difficult decision. Pragmatically – and callously – a prolonged, winner-less war of the rebels against the Assad regime in Syria would be the best solution for the US – and, on the surface, for Israel.

The reasoning behind this statement is that no matter which side wins, the US loses, and Israel probably comes under attack.

If Assad remains in power then Russia's and Iran's influences remain with Syria and also with Hezbollah in South Lebanon; and their supply lines remain intact. Assad has maintained a state of no war with Israel for decades, but that could change in the face of a victory by his regime.

If the rebels overthrow Assad, it is entirely unknown at the present time what the nature of the succeeding regime would be. But in any event, if the rebels win, their ideology would bring them southward against Israel as soon as they could rebuild their forces – their already stated intention.

Prophetic considerations show clearly that either outcome eventuality would eventually bring the final confrontation with Israel that shall come with Syria and the other nations to the north, including Lebanon and Iraq.

Micah chapter 5 refers openly and transparently to that conflict. And the prophet clearly shows the ultimate victory of Israel over "Assyria" of that day! For it appears that, at the time of that conflict, that Israel's Messiah shall have returned to the earth and shall indeed personally bring the victory over Assyria, along with whatever forces He chooses from among Israel and the Redeemed Saints, who shall be with him, in our opinion.

This conflict shall doubtless be prosecuted in parallel with those of Isaiah 63, Isaiah 11, Ezekiel 35, Obadiah, Psalm 83, and others – all of which indicate a decisive Messianic conquest and wipe-out of the foreigners between the Nile River and the Euphrates River, and from the Mediterranean Sea to the Persian Gulf (and Indian Ocean?). That is the time that is being indexed by Obadiah 18: And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.

When Messiah appears on the scene the prospect of that conflict shall be casting an ominous shadow over the entire region; but, in reality, the prolonged struggle shall doubtless be nearly finished, for His dispatch of these enemies should not take much time at all to complete.

But Israel and its people are not aware of (or do not understand) their own prophets' sure message of salvation from their enemies. If the West attacks Syria's poison gas stores, they are worried about a retaliatory gas attack upon Israel.
Also, because of the recent Syrian poisonous gas attacks, the Israeli public is rapidly acquiring gas masks; they doubtless are also tending to their secure, sealed rooms which were established during the first Iraqi conflict, and used by them during Saddam Hussein's Scud attacks upon Israel at that time.
It appears to us that frightening times probably lie ahead for God's re-gathered people, and that they shall be brought to think long and positively about their God. We understand that interest in Bible study and in prayer groups is increasing in the Jewish state.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama says he hasn't made a final decision about a military strike against Syria. But he says he's considering a limited and narrow action in response to a chemical weapons attack that he says Syria's government carried out last week.

Obama says that attack was a challenge to the world and threatens U.S. national security.

Obama's comment came after the U.S. released an intelligence assessment that found with "high confidence" that Syrian President Bashar Assad's government carried out a chemical weapons attack last week.

The U.S. says the attack killed more than 1,400 people.

Obama spoke before meeting at the White House with three Baltic leaders.
